Diy Pesticide For Tomato Plants

Introduction

If you’re growing your own tomatoes, you know that one of the biggest challenges is keeping pests out of your tomato plants. Luckily, there are plenty of organic options for pest management. One of my favorites is to make my own DIY pesticide using a few pantry staples. It’s not only easy to make and use, but it also works wonders on a variety of garden pests. Let’s get started!

Ingredients

You’ll need:

  • vinegar
  • water
  • borax (laundry booster) or baking soda
  • dish soap (Dawn is best)
  • garlic and peppermint leaves. You can also use lemon juice.

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together in a jar and shake vigorously until the salt is dissolved. Apply the mixture to tomato plant leaves in the morning, every 3 days for 3 weeks, or after any rainfall or irrigation. Be sure to apply it only to the underside of leaves because it can cause burning if applied directly onto blossoms or fruit.

Note: This recipe should be used as a last resort when other methods have failed and you’re not ready to give up on your tomatoes!

To make your own pesticide, you will need to use a mixture of water and soap. You can use any type of soap that you have available at home. To apply the mixture, you will need to spray it on the leaves of your tomato plant with a spray bottle every week.

To get rid of aphids from your tomato plants:

  • Place 1 cup of warm water in a bowl and then add 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap (the kind made for hand-washing dishes works best). Mix well until there are no more suds on top. The solution should feel thick but not clumpy or chunky like sand; if it does, add more liquid dish soap until it feels right when mixed with water.*

Conclusion

That’s all there is to it! This DIY pesticide is easy and effective, but be sure to have some extra supplies on hand in case you need them.
