Natural Remedies For Ants In The House

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a great natural way to keep ants out of your house. You can use either cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon to repel the pests and keep them from coming inside.

Cinnamon has a strong smell that ants don’t like, so it’s easy for them to pick up on when they’re looking for food sources outside the house. Since cinnamon is safe for humans and pets, there aren’t any adverse side effects if you decide to sprinkle some around your home—just be sure not to use too much!

Borax

Borax:

• Borax is a safe and effective natural remedy for ants in the house, but it can also be dangerous to your pets if ingested. If you have pets or children in the home, make sure you are careful when using this ingredient to treat ant infestations.
• You can use borax as a way to kill ants on contact by sprinkling it around areas where ants tend to nest and travel through. Be careful not to use too much though; too much borax will cause an unpleasant odor that could attract more bugs than it repels!

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is a natural product that is made from the fossilized remains of plankton. It’s safe to use around children and pets, but it can be harmful if inhaled, so make sure you take all necessary precautions when using it.

Apply diatomaceous earth in areas where ants are likely to nest. If you’re unsure of where these nests might be, look for small holes in your home’s foundation or any other cracks or crevices that appear to have been chewed through by insects (usually ants). Pour the powder into these holes and let it sit for several hours before sweeping up any excess powder with a broom or vacuum cleaner.

You can also make a spray by combining 1/2 cup water with 3 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey. Add 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon borax powder (you’ll need boric acid if you want to be more precise). Blend until smooth then transfer into an empty spray bottle. Spray on areas where there seem to be lots of ants coming into your home–they won’t cross this barrier! You’ll need to reapply every few days or so depending on how much foot traffic there is through these entry points but this should keep those pesky bugs from taking over any part of your house!

Cornmeal

Cornmeal is an effective natural remedy for ants. Cornmeal traps ants by damaging their digestive system, which can cause the ant to die after ingesting it. Although cornmeal doesn’t kill the ant, it will keep them away from your home and help reduce any further infestations. To use cornmeal as an ant repellent, sprinkle about 1/4 cup of dry cornmeal where you see ants entering your home. This is most effective if done in cracks and crevices near doors or windows where you usually find pests coming into contact with your home’s exterior walls or foundation
