How To Kill Ants On Lawn

1.Remove the Queen

Once you know where the queen ant is, it’s time to kill her. The best way to do this is by using a spray bottle filled with soapy water. As soon as you see the queen ant, spray her until she dies. If you don’t have a spray bottle handy, try pouring soapy water directly on top of her and then smashing her with a shoe or rock.

2.Deter Ants With Scents

• Use a scented deterrent

Another great way to deter ants from your yard (or garden) is by using scents they don’t like. To keep ants out of your lawn, try mixing peppermint oil and borax into a homemade spray that you can apply around the perimeter of your property. Some other good options include vinegar, cinnamon, mint, lemon and peppermint essential oils mixed with water; or cloves ground up in a coffee grinder then sprinkled about on the grass.

3.Use Cornmeal

Cornmeal is an effective way to get rid of ants in your lawn. To apply it effectively, follow the steps below.

• Mix one pound of cornmeal with two quarts of water and stir until the mixture is smooth.
• Pour this solution into a spray bottle and shake well before spraying on plants where ants are present.
• Spray all areas where you see ants crawling or running around on your lawn; make sure to go underneath rocks and leaves as well!
• Spray every day for about three days to kill off large numbers of ants in your yard, or every other day for up to six weeks if you want less intensive results from the poison spray mixture made from cornmeal (though it will take longer).

4.Kill Ants with Baking Soda

Mix 1 tbsp baking soda with 1 tbsp sugar.

Spread the mixture on the ant trail, or between two areas where you have seen ants. Sprinkle some on top of their nests, too. The ants will eat it and take it back to their colony, killing all of them within a few days.

5.Boric Acid and Honey method

• Mix equal parts boric acid and honey.
• Apply the mixture to the areas where ants congregate (such as near their nest).
• If you have a large area to cover, use a paint brush to apply the mixture in small amounts on the ground or any other surface you want to treat.
• Leave it for about 24 hours before reapplying if necessary or until all ants are dead, whichever comes first!
• Clean up any spills promptly with water, wiping up any messes made by your pets while they were trying out their new toy

6.Kill Ants with Vinegar

Another option you can use to kill ants is vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar will help to dehydrate the ant and it should die shortly after exposure. To use vinegar for this purpose, simply sprinkle some around where you see ants crawling on your lawn.
