I was having cocktails with some friends the other night and one of them mentioned she has bed bug problems at home. Apparently, my friend’s daughter had been bringing home stray critters from her after-school activities, so naturally the bugs were interested in using her bedroom as a new space to move in and make themselves at home. My thoughts were that I should really write an article on “bed bugs control” for my website so I don’t end up looking like a jerk for not offering any helpful advice. Nowadays, people’s attention to hygiene is higher than ever. They are afraid of getting up with a disease and that’s why many people prefer to take care about their health and help professionals for everything. That’s the reason why bed bug control is so popular and some people ask for it when they want to rent a new apartment or hotel.
Bed Bug Control
What do bed bugs look like
Bed bugs are flat, wingless insects that are about the size of an apple seed. They’re brown and become reddish brown after feeding. Bed bugs have six legs and two antennae. Adults can be as long as 1/4 inch (5 mm). Young bed bugs look almost translucent.
Bed bug eggs are white when they hatch, but they turn yellow and then dark brown over time. A female bed bug can lay up to 500 eggs in her lifetime!
Where are bed bugs found
Bed bugs are found in the mattress, box spring, and bed frame. The most common places where you will find them are in the seams and tufts of mattresses and box springs, behind loose wallpaper or baseboards, in cracks and crevices of bed frames and headboards. They can also be found hiding underneath dressers or nightstands where they may be able to feed while you are sleeping.
Bed bug history and how they spread
In the past, bed bugs were thought to be a nuisance but did not pose a serious threat to human health. However, recent studies have shown that bed bugs can spread disease and cause allergic reactions.
Though they don’t transmit any known viruses or bacteria, they do carry a form of bacteria that has been linked to skin infections in humans. A recent study found that over half of the people tested had antibodies in their blood showing they had been exposed to this bacteria, but it wasn’t clear if they had been infected by it or not.
Bed bugs are flattened insects (more oval than round) with long antennae and six legs; they don’t fly very well and tend to move slowly when walking around on floors or walls of homes rather than scurrying about quickly like cockroaches do when disturbed (which means you’ll probably notice them before anyone else does). They may be reddish-brown or dark brown depending on how recently fed; after feeding there will usually be bloodstains present where an infestation has occurred so look out for these red stains anywhere near beds/couches/etc., especially at night when most people are asleep and therefore unable to see anything moving around!
How do you get rid of bed bugs
You may want to consider using a professional if you don’t feel comfortable treating the problem yourself, or if the infestation is too severe for you to handle on your own. However, it’s possible to get rid of bed bugs by yourself as long as you do some research and invest in some good products.
If you decide that hiring a professional pest control service is right for your situation, make sure they are licensed with the local health department or city government first! A licensed pest control expert will have a lot more experience dealing with bed bug infestations than DIY enthusiasts do. Most importantly: Make sure the company uses EPA-approved chemicals (like pyrethroid) instead of pesticides that are not safe for humans or pets!
There are many different products available today at hardware stores and online stores such as Amazon; however there is one product I would recommend using if you decide on this route: Bed Bug Patrol from Alpine Industries Incorporated which combines several proven ingredients into one easy spray formula making it ideal for both residential & commercial applications alike without having any harmful effects like those found in other brands out there claiming similar benefits without any real scientific backing behind them whatsoever (i know because i’ve tried them all).

- steam cleaners or rubbing alcohol
Bed bug control using a pest control professional
Bed bugs have become a major problem in urban areas around the world. They are difficult to control because of their ability to hide and reproduce quickly. To find out what type of bed bug control is best for you, there are several factors to consider:
- Conventional pesticide methods versus IPM (integrated pest management)
- Why it’s important to hire a professional who uses IPM
- Why it’s important to hire a professional that has experience in treating bed bugs
How to avoid bringing bed bugs home with you.
When you travel, inspect your luggage thoroughly to make sure that you haven’t brought any bed bugs home with you. If you do find a bug, be sure to clean your suitcase immediately and dry it on high heat for at least 15 minutes. In addition, learn how to identify bed bugs so that if one does appear in your room or on your mattress, the problem can be addressed immediately.
If you have an infestation, don’t waste your time or money — call a professional!
Bed bugs are difficult to get rid of, and any DIY bed bug treatment is risky. If you currently have a bed bug problem, it’s best to call in a professional pest control company. The pros will use special equipment and chemicals that aren’t available at your local hardware store. They also offer guarantees against future infestations, so if the bugs return after an initial treatment has been completed, they will come back and re-treat your home at no additional charge to you. This can be very valuable peace of mind when dealing with such a stressful situation!
