Bed bugs will lay about five to ten eggs per day for about 100 days during their lifespan. Bed bug eggs take six to 18 days to develop into nymphs (baby bed bugs), depending on temperature and humidity conditions.

The best way to find these small white ovals is by looking with a magnifying glass at any place you have seen signs of bed bugs such as bloodstains on your bedding or dead insects under your mattress or box spring. If you see any white oval-shaped objects that resemble rice grains then they could be bed bug eggs!

Appearance Of Bed Bug Eggs And Nymph Shells

You may have seen bed bug eggs in cartoons or in drawings. In these depictions, they are often green and large, like a grain of rice or larger. The truth is that while some insect eggs look like this, it is not true for bed bug eggs. They are white when they first hatch, then turn brown as they mature inside their shells. Bed bug nymphs emerge from their shells after six to ten days (depending on the temperature), which means that if you find an empty shell you know there were bed bugs living there within the last week or so!

Once a female bed bug has mated, she will begin to lay eggs. A single female can produce about 5 eggs per day and each egg is laid in a flat, oval shape. The eggs are usually laid on the underside of furniture or other objects in clusters of up to 20 at a time. Bed bugs tend to be more active around dawn and dusk, so it’s not uncommon for people who have been bitten by these insects during the night time hours to find clusters of bed bug shells that were recently laid during the day time hours instead.

Although it is possible for all eggs to hatch after one week (if conditions are favorable), most don’t hatch until they have been incubated for several months. If your home has a history of infestation with bed bugs then you should expect that not all egg shells will hatch during one season because some will probably die before reaching maturity due to lack of food or warmth

Are Bed Bug Eggs White?

Bed bugs produce eggs that are white, but not completely. Eggs are translucent white and oval with a pearly-like appearance. The eggs can be up to 1 mm long and have a thin shell that is easily broken by touch or abrasion. You will rarely see the bed bug eggs unless you inspect your home closely for them.

How Long Do Bed Bug Eggs Take To Hatch?

Bed bug eggs take 6-10 days to hatch. The nymphs that hatch out of the eggs are the first immature form a bed bug can take, and they’re hungry for blood right away. Bed bugs go through five nymph stages before becoming adults, which takes about half a year at room temperature.

How To Identify Bed Bug Eggs And Shells

It is possible to identify bed bug eggs and shells by checking for them in crevices and cracks, as well as on mattresses, upholstered furniture, baseboards and electrical outlets. You can also look under the mattress or behind the headboard.

Bed bugs give birth to live young (not eggs) approximately every 10 days. Under normal conditions, if you have caught your first bed bug; there are probably more of them around waiting to hatch out into little blood suckers in the next week or two!
