Flea beetle is a common pest in gardens and greenhouses. It can be identified by the white flea-like appearance that its larvae have. Both adult flea beetles and their larvae can cause damage to plants by feeding on the leaves, buds, flowers and roots. The adult beetles are about 1/8 inch long with a brownish-black coloration with dark wing covers that have a metallic shine. Their larvae are very small, 1/16 of an inch long, white grub-like creatures with brown heads and six legs. They also have a pair of short antennae on their forehead.
Flea beetles are attracted to plants that produce pollen such as raspberries, strawberries and roses.
