Bed bug excrement pictures can be hard to find. Many companies that manufacture bed bug solutions like bed bug bombs try to make it sound like they are “professional” and “expert.” They throw around a lot of scientific sounding terminology to make it seem as if their product works, usually the product has never been tested using lab animals or unbiased individuals. Bed bug excrement pictures! That probably doesn’t sound like something you dream of, but trust me when I saw it’s going to change the way you view bed bugs. In fact, it might even help you identify a potential infestation in your home. Bed bug excrement pictures can be considered a gross topic. However, they are also very informative. There are small things in the environment called pheromones. Pheremonae are secreted by bed bugs and released into their environment and play a role in identifying other bed bugs in the area. You might notice on this site that I’ve separated the search terms and made a small section for bed bug excrement pictures. This is mostly so people know what it looks like before they become an expert on the subject and want to know more. But also because we’ve gotten multiple questions about it in the past. So we decided to get a blog post up that answered that question pretty clearly:

The fecal material is not a big stain left by liquid waste, but rather resembles particulate matter that has been passed through the body (like dry feces). The excrement will be found in areas where bed bugs were active, such as along mattress seams, in box springs and around headboards.

Look for small specks of poop to learn if you have bed bugs

Bed bugs are most often visible around the seams of mattresses and box springs. They may also be found in other places, such as along the edge of beds and furniture, behind baseboards, electrical outlets and switch plates, in cracks in wood floors or under carpet edges.

Bed bug feces (also called “bed bug poo”) is dark red-brown in color. It is about 1/16th inch long and somewhat grainy looking like tiny pieces of rice or sand. You will typically find this type of fecal matter near where the bed bugs have been feeding—around mattress seams, on linens that have been bitten through by bed bugs (especially if they were recently fed), on sheets or blankets where an infested mattress was lying directly upon them for several days at a time, etcetera!
