Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from wasp-like ancestors in the mid-Cretaceous period between 110 and 130 million years ago and diversified after the rise of flowering plants. More than 12,500 out of an estimated total of 22,000 species have been classified. They are easily identified by their elbowed antennae and a distinctive node-like structure that forms a thin waist. They’re sneaky, destructive, and can carry various diseases. These are just a few characteristics of the common ant. Ants are probably one of the most common household pests that homeowners will experience. There are several different species of ants and the only real way to get rid of them for good is to make sure there’s no food source or shelter for them or their eggs.

Pests Ants

Ants have been a nuisance for humans since the dawn of time. They are one of the most common and persistent pests in the world, and they can be found almost anywhere that people live. Ants are social insects and live in colonies that can range from just a few ants to millions of ants.

Every ant colony has a queen ant, worker ants, and male ants. The queen lays eggs which become larvae. After they hatch, they’re fed by the queen until they become pupae. Pupae then transform into adult worker ants who begin helping with the daily tasks of the colony such as foraging for food and caring for the young. Male ants usually only live long enough to mate with a female ant before dying shortly after.

The most common pest ant species include carpenter ants which are black or brownish with two parallel lines on their thorax; odorous house ants which are small reddish-brown insects with long legs; pharaoh ants which are shiny black insects with long legs; acrobat ants which look like small blackish brown beetles with long legs; firebrat which are small brownish red insects with long legs; pavement ants which look like tiny brown cockroaches with no wings.

Ants are one of the most common pests that can be found in homes, offices, and other buildings. They can be problematic because they can cause damage to your property and bite or sting you.

Ants typically enter a building through cracks in the foundation or other small openings in the exterior walls. They then make their way into the interior of your home through pipes and vents that connect to the outside.

Ants can also get inside through open doors and windows, especially those with screens that have holes or tears in them. Once inside, an ant colony will set up shop in walls and crawl spaces where they usually stay out of sight until they begin moving around at night when they are looking for food sources such as grease or sweet foods like cookies or crackers which often become contaminated by these insects over time due to their sticky bodies which leads them to collect dirt from outside environments after being brought inside by humans who may unknowingly bring them back inside on clothing/shoes etc…
