I’ve been thinking a lot lately about getting a dog. I mean, it’s something my wife and I have talked about doing for years, but now that we’re in our late twenties (and I’m just now developing a tolerance to wine) we’re seriously considering it. The more research I do into dog breeds the more overwhelmed I get. Each breeder sounds 100% more expert than the next one. It’s hard to tell if one is a trustworthy source or if they’re just trying to sell me on a puppy. That’s why when I read this fox news article my interest was piqued. Apparently there is an age old flea powder recipe that has been passed from one generation to the next and should be used instead of store bought flea control products. Now, obviously I’m a blogger — not some pro at home contracting (I’d like to start doing some of these things though), so maybe you’ve already seen this recipe mentioned elsewhere online and didn’t give it much thought. But if you want a homemade flea control plan then this cornstarch baby powder variety is worth checking out! Baby Powder Fleas is a common question for many new pet owners. It has been around for years and we all grew up with that stuff on our newborns bum after diaper changes. This information will teach you how to get rid of fleas naturally with baby powder. Plus, you can save a good chunk of money from not having to buy expensive flea control products.

Baby Powder Fleas
I was told that if you sprinkle baby powder on a flea and it doesn’t move, then it is dead.
You can try this method for yourself. To do so, you will need:
- Baby powder (4-6 tablespoons)
- An adult flea
Once you have your supplies, follow these steps:
- Sprinkle baby powder on the flea in question and watch to see if it moves. If it doesn’t move, congratulations! The flea is dead! You may proceed with celebrating by playing your favorite song at top volume while dancing around your apartment until you realize that perhaps this wasn’t such a great idea after all when some of your neighbors begin yelling at you through their windows. Don’t worry too much about them–they probably had it coming anyway for being so rude about your music tastes. However, if the flea does start moving around again after having been sprinkled with baby powder (or baking soda), then we’re afraid its time has not yet come—you’ll need to try again tomorrow night when the moon is full and hovering directly overhead like an eyeball staring down at our planet from outer space…if only we knew what to do then…
How do you know when a flea is dead?
When a flea falls into baby powder, it will be immobilized and unable to move. It is hard to know if the flea is dead or just immobilized. If you want to kill fleas, you should use pesticides that are safe for humans and pets (like diatomaceous earth) or professional pest control services.
===========
Baby powder is made from talc, which is a clay mineral. The talc baby powder will dry up the flea, but it won’t kill it. It’s not very effective in killing fleas.
I have not heard of using baby powder to kill fleas. As for knowing when a flea is dead, the lack of movement would be one indicator that the flea is dead.
I have not heard of using baby powder to kill fleas, but I do know that there are other methods for killing them. For example, chemicals can be used to kill these pests (though some of the chemicals used may not be safe for humans), or you could freeze them by putting them in ice water. The lack of movement is not the only way to tell if a flea is dead; they will also die when they become brittle after being frozen. Fleas are visible so you should be able to tell whether or not they’re alive by their appearance; if they appear lifeless and dried out after being frozen, then it’s likely that they died due to freezing temperatures rather than something else like soda pop syrup!
Using Baby Powder to kill fleas may not be effective
- There are many ways to kill fleas. Some methods are more effective than others, but there is no way that will kill all fleas in your home or on your pet.
- Baby powder is not a recommended method of killing fleas. It may not work at all, and could make the problem worse if you have an allergic reaction to it.
- If you think that a flea has been killed by baby powder, but still sees it moving on your pet or in their bedding, it’s possible that they weren’t dead after all. You should test them out by putting them in water—if they sink and float at the same time then they’re definitely dead!
