Bed Bug Exterminator Process
The steps we take to get rid of bedbugs.
The steps we take to get rid of bedbugs are as follows:
- No. 1: Pre-treatment
Bedbugs are not killed by pesticides alone. Instead, they must be exposed to a combination of heat and steam for about 30 minutes in order for the pesticides to have any effect on them. Before we can do this, however, it’s important that you remove all traces of clutter from the room in which you’d like us to work—we need access to all surfaces so that no hidden bedbugs remain unnoticed during our treatment process. We also recommend using extreme caution when removing items from the room due to potential bug contamination; therefore, we recommend moving everything into another room or closet before beginning pre-treatment procedures. Please note that if your home has been treated previously with pesticides or insecticides without success (or where previous attempts have failed), additional measures may need to be taken prior to treatment at our facility in order for us improve results and achieve complete eradication once again!
Step 1—Figure out the Extent of the Problem
The first step in getting rid of bed bugs is to figure out how bad the problem is. Bedbugs can be difficult to get rid of on your own, so unless you have experience with pest control, it’s best to leave this job up to a professional. We can help you determine how much work needs to be done and what products will be most effective at removing them from your home.
Some people think they have bedbugs when they really don’t—this happens because of the way bedbug bites look and feel, especially if they happen while sleeping or while wearing clothes (like pajamas). Having an expert come in and inspect your home may save you time and money by avoiding unnecessary treatment methods that won’t work anyway!
Step 2—Prepare Your Home Properly
Once you’ve made the decision to hire an exterminator, it’s time to prepare. Make sure that you have a plan in place so that when the exterminator arrives, they can get to work immediately. This will save you time and money in the long run.
Prepare Your Home Properly
If you want your bed bug extermination process to be as successful as possible, there are steps that need to be taken before the exterminator even shows up. This includes:
- Removing clutter from your home—Clutter is one of the biggest reasons why people end up with bed bugs or other pests; therefore, removing all unnecessary items from your house will help prevent infestations from occurring in the future.* Making sure everything is clean—Bed bugs are attracted by dirtiness; so keeping things clean during this process will help prevent them from staying around.* Washing all clothes on high heat (or freezing them) before putting them into storage until after treatment has been completed
Step 3—Heat Treatment
Heat treatment is the most effective option for killing bed bugs and their eggs. In this process, a heated air stream is directed into each room to achieve temperatures of 130-160°F (54-71°C). This temperature range kills all life stages of the bug within minutes.
Heat treatment can occur in two ways: using portable heaters or by using entire rooms as the source of heat. In either case, a professional must be hired to perform the service because it needs to be done carefully so that no damage occurs to furniture or other items inside your home. It can take anywhere from one hour up to six hours depending on how many rooms need to be heat treated and what type(s) of equipment are used for heating purposes.
Heat treatments are often expensive but are typically effective when it comes down to getting rid of bed bugs once and for all; however, there are some drawbacks associated with this method including cost (and possibly damage) if not done properly
Step 4—Get Rid of Clutter and Move Furniture
The next thing you should do is remove clutter and move furniture away from the walls to make it easier for you to spot bed bugs. Bed bugs can hide in cracks and crevices, so clearing out any clutter or accumulated items will make it easier to find these hiding spots and treat them as needed. This not only helps keep bedbugs out of sight but also reduces their hiding places, making it less likely that they’ll return after your treatment has ended.
There are some other steps to take with this part of the process as well:
- Move furniture away from walls
- Remove clutter on floors (and put it somewhere else)
- Leave furniture where it is during treatment—it’s safer for you if you leave stuff alone
Step 5—Vacuum
Vacuum all areas of the house, especially any seams in furniture and mattresses. Vacuum cracks in walls and crevices around windows and doors. Vacuum the bed frame, headboard, footboard, and box spring. Repeat vacuuming until you have removed any visible signs of bed bugs from these areas.
Step 6—Discard Infested Items and Try to Save Uninfested Items
If you have had a bed bug infestation, you should discard all the items that were in the room where they were found. This includes sheets, blankets, towels and clothing. If possible, save any items that cannot be discarded by placing them in plastic bags or sealed containers.
Before discarding anything it is important to inspect these items carefully for live bed bugs or eggs. Only if they appear to be free of pests should they be thrown away or treated with heat or cold treatment methods (see below).
Bed bug populations are known to survive long periods without feeding and can withstand acute exposure to temperatures as low as -13°F (-25°C). To completely eradicate an infestation it is necessary to kill all life stages of bed bugs; this includes eggs that may not yet have hatched from their shells and newly molted nymphs (immature adults) which are especially hardy because their exoskeletons are still soft and flexible at this stage.
Step 7—Seal it All Up With a Green Solution
Once the bed bugs have been exterminated, you’ll want to seal up your home so that they can’t make their way back in.
- Seal it all up with a green solution: First and foremost, use a non-toxic bedbug spray for mattresses and furniture. Then dusting powder for cracks and crevices. And finally, a bedbug spray for cracks and crevices (if needed). That should do it!
It’s important to know what the process is for getting rid of bedbugs so your infestation is taken care of effectively.
It’s important to know what the process is for getting rid of bedbugs so your infestation is taken care of effectively. The first step is determining that you do indeed have a problem and not simply being paranoid. Though it may seem like a good idea, you don’t want to be sleeping with the lights on if there’s no reason to be! If your home has been experiencing bites that come and go, this could indicate an issue with bedbugs rather than fleas or other insects (unless you’ve recently visited an area where those insects are more common). Bedbugs are harder to detect than many other pests because they typically hide in small cracks or crevices during the daylight hours when people are active and awake.
If it turns out that you do have bedbugs, then prevention will play an important role in ensuring their removal as quickly as possible. It’s important not only for preventing them from returning but also for protecting yourself against bites while dealing with the problem yourself; should someone else try removing them without taking these precautions into account (for example), they may still be able to spread throughout the house after their initial treatment attempt has failed due their lack of knowledge about proper steps). You should ensure all items brought inside from outside sources (such as luggage) are properly inspected before bringing them inside; this includes making sure any small pets living with other members of your household receive thorough inspection before entering
