Did you notice I only used the word ants in the title? Ants are, after all, the common name for several different types of creatures. But identifying which type of ant you are dealing with can make a big difference in control and treatment methods. Whether you see them marching across the floor or feel their presence through bites and stings, ants serve no purpose other than to be pesky nuisances around your home. In today’s post we’ll explore some tips and tricks for identifying ants and understanding how to deal with them. You see a little black spot in your yard. You know it could be an ant, but which one? With the recent wet weather, I’m sure you’ve seen the little black ants walking up your walls and chewing holes at the bottom of your kitchen cabinets. I have a 3 year old daughter and I was really worried that they would find their way into her bedroom.

One of my first memorable experiences with ants was when I was 3 years old, walking to school with my mom, and saw some little black insects running across the sidewalk. She was wrong about them being friendly (they destroyed my fort made out of cardboard boxes).
