1) Vacuum Your House Regularly: Fleas can’t survive long without a host, so vacuuming regularly will help prevent them from breeding—or at least slow down the process. If you have carpeting or rugs, be sure to vacuum every day for at least three days in a row before moving on to another room. If you don’t have carpeting or rugs, vacuum every two days for five days straight before moving on.

2) Use Flea Treatments: There are many different kinds of treatments available for dogs and cats, including both topical treatments (that go directly on the animal) and oral treatments (that they ingest). Talk with your veterinarian about which option would work best for your pet’s needs! It’s flea season, and your pets are probably covered in those pesky little parasites. 1. Stay on top of treatment. You can’t get rid of fleas if you don’t treat them. If you’re worried about side effects from topical treatments or flea collars, consider asking your vet about natural remedies like diatomaceous earth or essential oils.

2. Vacuum often, especially around the edges of furniture where fleas like to hide out during the day. You can also sprinkle food-grade diatomaceous earth along the baseboards for extra protection against these tiny bloodsuckers!
