Large Ants In Florida get out of control
I have photographed some of the largest ants in Florida and created this website to share my photos with you.
I work in Hollywood at a custom toy company. We’re located in the warehouse district near downtown. The area is surrounded by plenty of apartment buildings and lots of foot traffic. Walking to and from the office, I notice these large ants are everywhere. I don’t know if they’re imported fire ants or what, but they’re really big — the biggest ants I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy! Check out these pictures I took today when I was lunching with my girlfriend:
I was sitting on my front porch, rocking in a chair one evening, watching the sun rise over the neighborhood. It was a lovely sight to see. I turned away from the rising sun to look toward the west. I saw something that made me jump out of my chair. Right there on my porch, about fifty feet away, were two large black ants! They didn’t look dangerous, but they were very big! The largest part of it’s body was about 1 1/2 inches long (3.8 cm), but it’s legs trailed another inch behind it. I had never seen anything like that before…
