But what would we put on our canine friend? We did some research (with the help of our veterinarian) and found these natural ways to get rid of fleas and ticks in dogs! Let’s check them out!

With natural remedies, you can use a flea comb to remove any fleas from your dog’s fur. You should then pick the fleas out with tweezers, or if you’re feeling brave enough, suck them off with your mouth (gross but effective). Also consider using a natural shampoo that contains ingredients like neem oil, rosemary extract and eucalyptus oil. These will help repel ticks and keep your dog’s skin healthy.

The most natural way of getting rid of ticks is by using a couple drops of tea tree oil on their collar. Tea tree oil has been shown to be effective against both parasites and fungi so it makes sense that it would work against ticks as well! If you live in an area where there are many ticks that spread Lyme disease like we do here in Minnesota then I highly recommend this method as long as they have collars on at all times because otherwise they’ll just run around outside all day long without protection from these nasty creatures which would be bad news bears indeed…
