Baking Soda And Sugar Ants
Line the trails and holes with powder
- Line the trails and holes with powder. Place the baking soda on a spoon or fork and sprinkle it along any trail that you see. The ants will take the powder back to their nest, where it will poison them.
- Put out a wide line of caster sugar around the perimeter of your house to discourage ants from entering or nesting near your home.
- Sprinkle some borax in ant-infested flower beds, under potted plants and in other areas where they may reside when not invading indoors.
Place the mixture in a shallow dish
Even though you can prevent the ants from entering your home, you will still see them around. They may be in your kitchen or bathroom, but they can also be seen in other parts of the house as well. To get rid of them, you will need to use baking soda and water. For this project, we recommend using a shallow dish because it is easier for the ants to escape. This way, you won’t have any messes and your home will feel fresh again!
If a trail is hard to reach
If you want to make sure the ants get the chemical, try using a cotton swab.
When you spot an ant trail, rub it with a cotton swab dipped in baking soda. The ants will pick up the powder and carry it back to their nest where they’ll eat it and die from ingesting too much baking soda—although I’m not sure exactly how much is “too much.”
If you don’t have access to any cotton swabs, just sprinkle some baking soda onto your countertop near the ant trail before bedtime; by morning, there should be dead ants all over your kitchen!
Use baking soda and sugar to kill ants.
Baking soda and sugar are two common household items that can be used to kill ants. Baking soda is poisonous to ants, so it should be placed in a shallow dish on the ground where you usually see them. The sugar will attract the ants to the baking soda and they’ll bring it back to their colony as food, killing off all of them in one go. Mix equal parts baking soda and sugar together; this mixture should not be put directly on any plants or furniture since it could leave stains.
