Baking soda works by dehydrating the fleas and making their blood acidic. As you might know, when something is too acidic or too alkaline, it can’t work properly. This means that when you treat your carpets with baking soda, it will dry out and irritate the fleas’ exoskeletons so much that they won’t be able to function normally anymore.

A lot of people tend to use vinegar instead of water when they want to clean carpets because vinegar has natural cleaning properties that can help remove stains and odors from pet accidents on rugs; however, vinegar also makes blood more acidic which dries it out even more!
