• Swelling from trauma or infections such as swimmer’s ear (otitis externa) or swimmer’s itch (cerumen impaction).
• Intense itching due to scabies mites burrowing into the skin of your head behind your ears.

Pus discharge from the ear

Pus discharge from the ear is a common symptom of an infection in the ear canal. In general, the ear produces wax to protect it from dirt and bacteria. However, bed bugs can push wax into your ear canal when they crawl around inside of it. This can cause you to have trouble hearing and affect your balance as well. It may also result in an infection that causes pus discharge from your ear which would be a sign that you need medical attention immediately!

A palpable lump in front of the ear

A lump that can be felt in front of your ear is a symptom of bed bugs. The size, description and location of this lump are consistent with a bed bug bite. It’s usually not painful or itchy.

The lump feels like:

• A small marble or pea-sized ball under the skin
• A raised red bump about 1/4 inch wide on the outside near your ear canal

It looks like:

• A small pimple with a red center surrounded by an inflamed area that may have pus draining out of it after scratching or picking at it too much (to try to kill the itch). This might turn into an infected wound if left untreated for too long but doesn’t happen often enough to worry about unless you’re very prone to infections already (such as athletes who get banged up all the time).

A feeling of fullness, pressure or pain in the ear

• Pain is worse when you move your head in certain directions.
