If you are concerned about bedbugs, the most important thing to do is check for signs. Here are some of the things you should look for:

• Small black dots or specks on wall surfaces and ceilings
• Scratch marks in woodwork or baseboards
• Dried dark brown blood stains on bedsheets, pillowcases, and mattresses

If you find any of these signs, contact your hotel immediately and let them know that there may be an infestation. They will send someone out to inspect it as soon as possible. If they confirm that there are indeed bedbugs in your room or suite, they will arrange for it to be treated as quickly as possible with heat treatment. Where bedbugs were found: In the hotel room and in the breakfast area.

Who found the bedbugs: A guest who booked a stay at the hotel. The guest also noticed that there was no screen on their window, which would allow for insect entry into the room. Additionally, three other guests had similar complaints about their stays at this particular DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Times Square property.

What did they do to get rid of them? The New York City Health Department did an inspection and determined that there was no current infestation because they couldn’t find any live adult bugs or eggs in any areas inspected during their visit on December 5th, 2018 (the last day that complaints were made). The department also noted that “no treatment methods are currently approved by [their] agency for controlling or eliminating Cimex lectularius [bedbugs].” They closed down restaurants adjacent to this one so all food items could be inspected prior to being served again; however, this closure lasted only four days before reopening again as planned on December 8th!

Bedbugs often hide near heat sources like electrical outlets so be on the lookout there too!
• What to do if you find bedbugs: If you do find signs of bedbugs in your hotel stay, report it immediately! The hotel staff should be able to contact an exterminator who will come out within 24 hours (or sooner depending on urgency). They can then work with the exterminator through a process called heat treatment which involves using high heat levels (120 degrees Fahrenheit) over multiple days until every last bug is dead. While this method isn’t perfect by any means (it won’t kill eggs), it’s still better than nothing at all since other options like chemical treatments aren’t always as effective against these resilient pests.*
