There are several ways to discourage ticks from taking up residence in your yard. One of the most effective is using Borax, which kills ticks on contact and makes them unable to reproduce. The easiest way to use Borax is by sprinkling it around areas where you spend time outside, such as near doors, decks or patios.

Now that we have the essential oils, it’s time to whip up a batch of our natural yard tick repellent spray. You can use any kind of spray bottle you have lying around (a clean, empty one from your kitchen or bathroom will work great), but we like this one because it has a wide opening that makes it easy to fill with liquids and other substances.

• Fill half of your spray bottle with water.
• Add 10 drops each of lemongrass oil and citronella oil into the water in your spray bottle (these are two very popular and effective oils for repelling ticks).
