When I had to take my car to a local mechanic (it needed a new radiator), I decided to get a bite to eat while I waited. Imagine my surprise when my meal came with a side of four little critters sharing the fries with me. It was at that time I knew it was time for me to get some bed bug clothing spray that would work, and work fast. Bed bugs don’t just live in beds and sofas, they can also be found in your clothing — you might have heard horror stories from people who end up with blood-filled welts after wearing an infested item of clothing. Bed Bug Clothing Spray (or bed bug spray for clothes ) is an organic pest repellant that doesn’t just eliminate bed bugs — it also prevents them and other pests from coming back.Bed bug clothing spray is a chemical-based product that you can use to get rid of bed bugs in your home. Because it is a chemical-based spray, it is not as safe as some other options that are out there. However, if you are careful, then you can use bed bug clothing spray for effective bed bug control.
Bed Bug Clothing Spray
The best way to get rid of bed bugs is to treat your property as a whole, including your furniture and clothing.
To effectively treat a bed bug infestation, it’s not enough to simply spray the furniture and vacuum up some eggs. You need to also treat your clothing and belongings before putting them back into use. Bed bugs can be transferred from one place to another via personal items such as bags, hats or even shoes. If you’ve been bitten by any type of insect at all recently, it’s best not to wear those clothes until they’ve been thoroughly washed.
If you’re very concerned about keeping your home free from these pests for longer than just two weeks or so (and are willing to pay for it), then you should consider hiring professional pest control services that offer long-term management plans. These services will come out regularly—usually once every month or two—to inspect your property and make sure there are no new signs of infestation developing anywhere in the house.
Bed bug clothing spray can be an effective way to prevent a bed bug infestation from spreading to other areas of your home, or even other people’s homes. It can also help expel bed bugs that are found on clothing that’s been worn in infected areas.
- Bed bugs can get into your clothing
- Bed bugs can be spread to other places through clothing
- Bed bugs can be killed by heat, hot water, and vinegar
- Clothing can be heated in a washing machine
Take these steps to use bed bug clothing spray to remove bed bugs from your clothing and prevent bed bug infections.
- Understand treatment options.
- Spray fabrics with vinegar.
- Dry on high heat if possible.
- Wash in hot water, and dry once more on high heat for at least 30 minutes to kill any lingering bed bugs and eggs.
1. Understand treatment options
A thorough understanding of these pests and how they operate is important before you begin treatment. Bed bugs are small, flat, oval-shaped insects that feed on blood. They are brown in color but turn a reddish color after feeding. Bed bug nymphs (immature bed bugs) are usually about 1/4 inch long and become adults in about 3 to 4 weeks after feeding. The adult female can lay up to 500 eggs during her lifetime, which span from six months to one year depending on environmental conditions like temperature or humidity levels.
Bed bug infestations can be difficult to control due to their ability to hide in narrow cracks or other hard-to-reach areas where insecticides cannot reach them; however there are many products available for treating infestation problems such as our line of natural bed bug sprays which contains no harmful chemicals but still kills 99% of bedbugs within just 30 seconds!
2. Spray fabrics with vinegar
If you want to repel bed bugs, while your vinegar spray is still wet, spray a thin layer of vinegar on all of the fabrics in the room. The smell of the vinegar will help keep them away. Vinegar can be used as an anti-bacterial and it is also a natural repellent.
If you have carpets in your home or office, spray them with water first so that when you use our bed bug clothing spray on them later, it has something to stick too.
3. Dry on high heat if possible
After you’ve killed bed bugs with heat, you can also kill them with time. The longer a hot wash is set to run, the more time it will have to kill bed bugs that have been caught in your clothing. In addition, if you live in a dry climate and don’t plan on using your clothes dryer often (or at all), then simply hanging up your clothing to air dry should suffice. Bed bugs can survive up to 120ºF, so use this highest heat setting on your clothes dryer if possible.
It is important not to wash or dry any items that cannot withstand heat at high temperatures as this could cause damage or discoloration of the fabric. In addition, some items may require special care when washing or drying such as silk items which require cold water washing only!
4. Wash in hot water
Hot water and soap will kill bed bugs that have crawled onto your clothing. You should wash all items of clothing worn in an infected area, including socks, hats and belt buckles. Wash all bedding and other fabrics that the infested person used to sleep with (such as pillows). Treat all curtains or any other fabric drapes that might have been exposed to the infestation.
If you are able to take items outside for cleaning, run them through a hot dryer on high heat for 10 minutes before bringing them inside again
5. Dry once more on high heat
Once you’ve allowed the items to air dry, they should be ready to wear. If you can’t dry on high heat, then put clothes in the freezer overnight. This will kill any remaining bed bugs which are hiding inside the fibers of your clothing and prevent future infestations from occurring once you start wearing them again. If this is not an option for you, place items in a sealed plastic bag for a week or so instead of using heat treatment alone.
You may have noticed that we haven’t recommended putting garments in a dryer before storing or airing out after washing. Why? Because if you’re drying other items at the same time as your clothes, there’s a possibility that some of those other garments could transfer any active bed bugs onto yours! If possible, either air out all your garments by themselves or run all laundry through another cycle on its own setting (check user guides).
Spraying clothing with a vinegar solution and drying it on high heat can kill off any remaining adult bugs and eggs.
To kill any remaining adults and eggs, you can spray the clothing with a vinegar solution and then dry it in a hot dryer.
The heat must be high enough to kill off all of the infestations. Soak your clothes in this solution for at least 10 minutes before putting them into the dryer on high heat for about 30 minutes. The vinegar does not need to be sprayed directly onto the clothing—it is enough that it is wet when placed into the dryer with hot air blowing onto it.
