The Bed Bug Coaster Trap is a product created by Randy Morris out of Traverse City, Michigan and was designed with the customer’s needs in mind. Although it is not a 100% foolproof guarantee against those pesky critters, it sure does help users sleep more peacefully and with more comfort at night with their reassurance that bugs will not come near them and their bed. Your trap won’t be effective until you do what I call: hunting for bed bugs. You see, there’s a proper way to set up your Bed Coaster Trap. In addition, there’s also a proper way to look for bed bugs as well. Otherwise, your trap will never be effective. So today I want to show you how to effectively set up your Bed Bug Coaster Trap and how to properly hunt for bed bugs.

Here’s how you can make a bed bug coaster trap:

• Cut a shallow cone shape into the cardboard or paper, about 2 inches high and about 1 inch wide.
• If you have baby powder or oil handy, coat the inside of this cone with it so that bed bugs will slide down easily and not be able to climb back up again. Vaseline would also work well in this way; simply dab some onto your coaster and let dry before use.
• Attach one end of tape (duct tape works well) to the floor under where you’re placing your coaster trap—you want it as close as possible under where you think bed bugs are crawling because they’ll be attracted by its scent!

The idea is that a thirsty bed bug will crawl into the coaster, slide all the way down on the slick surface and then be unable to climb back out.

Materials:

• Plastic coasters (the kind that most bars give away for free) – about 2″ x 3″ in size and 0.5″ deep
• A thin layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly ( vaseline ) applied to one side of each coaster so that it’s slick when dry

The reason we made this is because we wanted an inexpensive way for people without access to pesticides to protect themselves from bed bugs.

Bed bug traps are an excellent alternative to pesticides because they don’t contain any harmful chemicals—and they’re cheap too! This trap is not a silver bullet that will prevent bed bugs from biting you, but it can help manage populations and reduce your risk of getting bitten. Bed bugs tend to live close to where people sleep, and if a traveler comes into your home with an infestation, the best course of action is usually to treat the traveler’s luggage before putting it into your home. This can be difficult if they are staying somewhere else—for example, at a hotel—or if they have already left town (as was probably the case in my case).

Another option is treating infested items brought into your home as part of regular cleaning activities (e.g., washing sheets after each guest who has been exposed leaves). However, this takes time and effort that most people don’t want (or have) when dealing with pests!
