Bed Bug Cycle Of Life

Bed bugs! I’m sure the mere thought of them makes you shiver. They’re almost as terrifying as cockroaches and spiders, but luckily not quite. But don’t let your guard down just yet; bed bugs are real, and they are all around us. In this article, we’ll take a close look at the bed bug cycle of life and uncover who, or rather what, is behind these horrible creatures. And then we’ll finish off with a few nifty tips and tricks on how to exterminate them. So if you’ve got some good pest control experience, please don’t jump in here unless you want to spoil it for everyone else. Bed bugs are a Pest that is difficult to get rid of because the Bed Bug Life Cycle is complete in nearly twenty four hours which makes the Bed Bug infestation hard to eradicate. The reason that it is called a Life Cycle is that there are four stages in this process for bed bugs to go through, where they will start their next cycle once again. If you aren’t really sure what I am talking about, then you have obviously not seen a Bed Bug Infestation then. They are made of almost nothing but blood, which is why you wake up with a bite on your face every morning. It’s not your fault however, as the Bed Bug Life Cycle goes something like this:

Bed Bug Cycle Of Life

Eggs

The eggs can be laid singularly or in small clusters, and they are hard to see as they’re so small. Bed bug eggs are white, but they turn translucent and become a dark brown before hatching. The entire bed bug life cycle can take anywhere from 42-180 days depending on conditions, so the eggs will hatch within 1-2 weeks if the conditions are optimal—but that’s not always the case.

Nymphs

Nymphs are very small (about 1/4 of an inch), and can be more difficult to see than adults. However, if you have been bitten by a bed bug and have traces of their fecal matter on your skin, it’s possible that nymphs are feeding on you.

When nymphs feed on blood, they will shed their skin five times before reaching maturity and becoming an adult. Each time they shed their skin, it becomes slightly darker than before until it reaches its final coloration at adulthood. This molting process is what makes identifying them so difficult; even though they may be present in large numbers in an area, their small size makes them hard to spot unless they’re actively feeding or trying to hide from predators (such as humans).

Adults

Adult bed bugs are about the size of an apple seed and have a dark brown color. It’s important to note that while they may look like ticks or cockroaches, they aren’t. Bedbugs are wingless insects.

If allowed to feed freely, an adult female can lay up to five eggs per day. Each one takes only five days before hatching into nymphs (baby bedbugs). These nymphs go through four more molting stages until they reach adulthood—each stage lasts roughly 1–2 weeks each, so it will take at least 100 days for them to become adults themselves if left unchecked by insecticide treatment methods.

Bed bugs go through multiple life stages in their life cycle.

As with most insects, bed bugs go through multiple life stages in their life cycle. This process begins when a female bed bug lays eggs on or near her host. The eggs hatch into nymphs, which are also known as “nymphs” or “bed bugs”. Nymphs feed on blood and molt (shed their exoskeletons) several times before becoming adults; if there is enough food available for them to reproduce, this cycle can repeat itself several times over the course of several months. However, most infestations involve only one generation because it takes time for all stages of development to occur.[10]
