There are different bed bug stages. The female bed bugs lay eggs as soon as they feed on the host unlike the male bed bugs. The female bed bugs can lay several batches of eggs in their lives. The female bed bug lays its eggs in cracks and crevices but when they are large enough, they even lay them in plain sight. These eggs take a couple of weeks to mature while they wait for the time to hatch. Are you looking for information about how to fix bed bug bites? As you may know, bed bugs can be a major issue for both tenants and property owners. Bedbugger.com provides an abundance of information on this subject. Here is a video that can help you identify bed bug bites and different stages of bed bugs in your home or hotel room. If you’re looking for a complete guide of the life cycle of a bed bug, you’ve come to the right place. Bed bugs go through multiple stages in their lifecycles. The adult bugs on our beds are different from the eggs in the cracks of our floors and upstairs windowsills.
Bed Bug Different Stages
The ten stages of bed bugs
The bed bug life cycle goes through ten stages of development. Just like humans, bed bugs are born as eggs. The eggs hatch into nymphs which go through a series of molts to reach adulthood in about one month’s time. They live for about a year.
Stage 1: Egg
Eggs are the first stage in the life cycle of a bed bug. Eggs have 6 legs, and they look like tiny grains of rice. They’re only about 1 mm in length, so you can’t see them without magnification. Eggs are laid singly on or near a host’s resting place (e.g., mattress seams), where they will hatch into nymphs after 5-10 days.
Stage 2 is the larva which hatches from the eggs.
The larva is the second stage of a bed bug. It hatches from the eggs and is about 1mm long, flat, white and has six legs. Larvae are typically found in the bed frame or box spring as they feed on blood from other insects that have died there.
Stage 3: Pupa
A pupa is the last stage of development before an insect transforms into an adult. It has no wings, cannot move around and therefore it cannot feed itself. The only way for a pupa to survive is by staying in its cocoon until it reaches adulthood.
In this stage, bed bug eggs hatch into nymphs who shed their skin five times before reaching maturity at 30-35 days old. The larvae molt like other insects but they have wings that are not yet fully developed while they continue to grow and develop their digestive system as well as other organs needed to live independently once they become adults.
Stage 4 is when the adult emerges from the pupa.
Stage four is the final stage of a bed bug’s life cycle. In this stage, the adult bed bug emerges from its pupa and begins feeding on blood. The adult is about 1.5mm in size, has six legs, an oval body shape and is brown in color with red-brown markings on its back (see image). It has no wings but it can move rapidly across floors and walls to find hosts or hiding places where they can feed undetected by humans until they are ready to lay eggs again.
Stage 5 is when mating occurs.
Stage 5 is when mating occurs. It occurs within 5-10 days after a blood meal and can happen more than once in the same life cycle. The females can mate multiple times, but males are only able to mate once. Mating does not require a blood meal for the female to lay eggs, but it does require one for the male to produce sperm cells. If you see any of your bed bugs in this stage, you should know that they’re ready for mating!
Stage 6 is when female begins laying eggs.
Stage 6 is when female begins laying eggs. The eggs will be laid in different places, such as the mattress seams, bed frame, cracks or crevices of furniture and baseboards.
Eggs hatch in 6-10 days if they are not exposed to cold temperatures. If they remain at room temperature or above, hatching may take as little as 5 days.
The female can lay up to 200 eggs over her lifetime that can hatch in one month if left undisturbed!
Stage 7 repeat of stage 6 and 7
The seventh stage is a repeat of the first six stages. A female adult bed bug will mate with a male adult bed bug, and then she’ll lay her eggs. She will lay up to 500 eggs within the course of one to two weeks, usually at night while you’re sleeping. It’s important that you keep your home free of clutter so as not to give them new places for hiding or laying eggs. Once all of these eggs hatch into nymphs (the next stage), they will start feeding on blood again.
Repeat of Stages 8-10
Adults can live for up to a year without feeding. Bed bugs can survive for weeks without food, and they can live for months without food.
Bed bugs can also survive for years without blood meals. In fact, some bed bug populations exist in an intermediate stage called diapause, which means that they are able to survive even longer periods of time (months or even years) between blood meals by hibernating until conditions are right again. If you think you have a long-term infestation on your hands, don’t despair! The choice is yours: whether to invest the time and money needed to rid yourself of these pesky insects once and for all—or if instead you would rather continue living with them forevermore
We have 10 stages for bed bugs
Bed bugs are insects that feed exclusively on the blood of animals. The most common species are Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus. They are an example of a social insect, living in colonies with shared resources such as food and shelter. Bed bugs are found in temperate climates throughout the world, particularly near their hosts (humans).
Bed bug infestations have increased worldwide recently and pesticide resistance has become a major problem for pest control companies. Since they don’t pose any harm to humans (except for being itchy), they’ve been allowed to spread without much notice or concern from anyone but those who experience them on a regular basis.
