Bed Bug Fumigation Process

What exactly is a Bed Bug Fumigation? To get rid of bed bugs, they require special treatments, and while there are a few things you can do to help the process along, it’s best to let the professionals do their thing. The fumigation liquid (or gas) stops bed bugs from being able to survive and reproducing. Afterward, you’ll have to wait for the time period of the fumigant being used before you can go back in your home. FUMIGATION is the process whereby Heat and/or Chemicals are used to eradicate all the different stages of Bed Bugs within a structure. This process requires personnel trained specifically in the application and use of insecticides within, on, and around all structures.

Bed Bug Fumigation Process

Step 1 – Preparation

The first step to fumigating your home is preparing it. This process is by far the most labour-intensive, time-consuming and expensive part of the job. It is important that you take this step seriously as it will determine whether or not you have a successful fumigation.

The preparation process involves cleaning and sealing all cracks, crevices, electrical outlets, vents and other openings in your home. This will prevent any unwanted insect pests from entering during the fumigation process or after it has been completed. You should also make sure that there are no items on any flat surfaces (such as tables) since they can be damaged when combined with chemicals used in fumigation. If you have children at home then make sure they are removed from their bedrooms during this time because pets may also need to be removed if necessary for safety reasons (you should also check with us about pet safety during our initial consultation).

Step 2 – Setting up the Fumigation Site

Once you have the approval from your landlord to fumigate, the next step is setting up a fumigation site. The process of fumigating involves sealing off your home and using high-tech equipment to introduce the toxic gas into it. This will kill any bed bugs and their eggs, but it’s important that you work with a professional who knows how to do this correctly.

To begin, your entire home must be sealed off by tents that are placed around each room of your apartment or house. This includes windows and doors as well as vents leading into other rooms where you don’t want vapors released (like bathrooms). Once all of these spaces are sealed off, they can be filled with chemicals that rid them of bed bugs and their eggs while also killing any life forms—including pets and humans—that may be present inside them at the time!

Step 3 – The Fumigation

Once your home is sealed, the fumigation process begins. In most cases, this will last for about an hour. Fumigants are released into every crevice and crack in your home through a special “bomb” system. The fumigant works by penetrating the exoskeleton of bed bugs and other insects such as fleas and cockroaches, which eventually leads to death.

While this sounds like a simple process, it is actually more complicated than you might think:

  • First off, the entire house must be sealed up so that no one enters or exits during fumigation (this includes pets). This prevents people from breathing in any toxic gases or being exposed to harmful chemicals while they’re inside their homes—both of which could cause serious health problems if they were to occur.* Second off, these bombs must be placed strategically throughout each room so that all areas are covered evenly without leaving any gaps behind.* Thirdly (and perhaps most importantly), there must be proper ventilation during this time period—otherwise some areas could become much too hot for humans (or pets) living within them!

Step 4 – Clearing the Fumigant

The fumigant used in a bed bug fumigation procedure requires at least 24 hours to clear from the property. This is because it takes that long for the gas levels to reach a safe level. Because of this, you will have to allow time for the whole process prior to re-entering your home or business.

You’ll be able to tell when air quality has returned by using a gas monitor: if your site’s air quality meets safety standards (i.e., no more than 0.5 ppm or 20 parts per million), then it is safe for you and anyone else who may be exposed to return there temporarily (for example, while preparing food).

The fumigation process is complicated.

Before you can begin your fumigation process, you will need to make sure that a licensed pest control company has been hired by the landlord. Your landlord should be able to provide this information for you.

Once that’s out of the way, it’s time to prepare the premises for fumigation:

  • Vacate all pets and non-essential people from the building during the treatment process. Pets may be allowed back into their own rooms after 24 hours if they are well-behaved and not allowed out of their rooms at any point during this time period. Non-essential people are not permitted onto premises during treatment or immediately before/after as they could carry pests into/out of treated areas via clothing or shoes (e.g., children playing near an exterior door). In addition, they may carry pests back inside upon returning home from a trip away from the house being treated without having noticed anything amiss on their clothing or shoes.* Confirm that all doors and windows are closed prior to beginning treatment (including sliding glass doors). This includes those leading outside; these must remain closed throughout fumigation so no one can enter or exit without going through proper decontamination procedures first!
