So what should you look for? The following list includes some of the most common clues that could indicate the presence of bed bugs:

• Look at your sheets or mattress; they may have blood stains which indicate that someone has been bitten by a bug or was bitten recently, if the stains aren’t old enough (check out our article on signs/symptoms).
• Do you see small white eggs on your sheets or mattress? These can hatch into baby nymphs within 5 days (see our photo gallery). They’re hard to see unless they’re grouped together in clusters; but if they are present then there’s a good chance someone will get bit later!
• See any fecal stains from where adults defecate while feeding? If not then try looking closely around baseboards where adults tend congregate during certain times throughout their life cycle (check out our infographic).
