Ingredients

The ingredients for the travel spray include:

• Lavender essential oil – This ingredient has been shown to repel bed bugs, mosquitoes and fleas. It also helps to soothe skin irritations and reduce redness caused by bug bites.
• Lemon essential oil – The lemon oil will help kill any remaining bed bugs on your clothing after you’ve sprayed it down with the lavender or thieves mixture.
• Thieves Oil – An essential oil blend that contains clove bud, cinnamon bark, rosemary leaf, lemon peel and eucalyptus globulus leaf as its main components. Thieves is one of my favorite blends because it smells so good yet can be used as a natural disinfectant at home or while traveling!

You’ll need just a few drops of each essential oil in order to create your own travel spray; however, if you aren’t sure if the mixture will work well together then feel free to experiment with different ratios between all three ingredients until you find something that works best for you!

2 oz glass spray bottle

Glass spray bottles are the way to go when it comes to essential oil sprays. They are made of a material that doesn’t react with oils and won’t be ruined by them, meaning you can use them for any time you want to mist your bedding with an essential oil blend. 1/4 teaspoon thieves oil

Thieves oil is a blend of clove, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary. It has been used for thousands of years as an insecticide; it is safe for people and pets. To make the travel spray:

1/4 teaspoon thieves essential oil

2 tablespoons water

1/4 teaspoon vodka (optional)

If you have some vodka on hand, you can add 1/4 teaspoon to the spray. Vodka works well as a solvent, so it will help the other ingredients penetrate the fabric, and it’s also an effective disinfectant. It’s an antiseptic (a mild one), but more importantly it’s non-toxic and safe for all fabrics.

Distilled water or witch hazel to top off bottle

You can use distilled water or witch hazel to top off your bottle. Avoid using tap water, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, essential oils and cheap perfumes of any kind (alcohol-based).
