Fungi can cause the leaves of your trees to become brown and crinkled, particularly if you have an artificial tree in the corner of a room that’s on most days. You can stop this happening with fungicides. There are lots of options on the market and using the wrong one can make things worse, not better. What’s the best fungicide for peach trees if you want to keep that tree as healthy as possible? The best fungicide for peach trees is organic and natural. The reason why it is the best is because of its effectiveness. The effective power comes from the compounds found in this product that work together as a team to attract pests, disinfect, combat diseases and just about kill every bug known to man. This does not only kill bugs dead, but ‘kills’ them dead. If you follow my blog, you probably know that I’ve been a bit obsessed with finding the best fungicide for peach trees. Well, I think I think I’ve found it. Let me share some information on this topic together with you in this post, so we can get your thoughts after as well (I hope you’ll join the discussion below!)
Best Fungicide For Peach Trees
Introduction
Peach trees are fun to grow, and they’re beautiful to look at. However, if you want to be successful at growing peach trees, then you need a good fungicide. Not all fungicides are the same and not all fungicides work for peach trees. In this article I’m going to discuss some of the best fungicides for peach trees so that you can help your peach tree thrive and live a long life
Copper Based Fungicides
Copper based fungicides are the most effective and versatile fungicides for peach trees. However, they are also the most toxic, expensive and environmentally unfriendly of all available fungicides.
While copper fungicide treatments have shown great results in combating peach leaf curl and other fungal diseases on your peach tree, it is important to understand that this kind of treatment is not meant for organic farms or gardens. Copper-based products can be toxic if used incorrectly! If you are growing your plants organically, avoid using these types of chemicals altogether by choosing another type of product on our list instead:
Chlorothalonil
Chlorothalonil is one of the most common fungicides used on fruit trees. It is a broad spectrum fungicide that is effective against a wide range of fungal diseases including anthracnose, brown rot, powdery mildew, etc. Chlorothalonil can be applied in two forms:
- Chlorothalonil technical (liquid) or
- Chlorothalonil granular (granules).
Propiconazole
Propiconazole is a broad-spectrum fungicide that is effective against a wide range of fungal diseases. It’s used for the control of powdery mildew, rust, leaf spots and anthracnose.
Propiconazole works by inhibiting development of the fungal cell wall. This results in loss of spore viability and death at all stages of development. The compound has no residual activity but can be applied up to four times per season without harming beneficial organisms, such as pollinators or earthworms
Captan
Captan is a broad spectrum fungicide that can be used on peach trees to control a variety of diseases. If you are looking for a chemical fungicide option, Captan should be your first choice. It is the most effective way to treat powdery mildew, peach leaf curl and other fungal diseases that affect peaches.
The active ingredient in Captan is captafol, which has been shown to be safe when used according to label instructions and precautions. The label recommends spraying at least twice during the growing season: once when blossoms appear and again after petal fall.
Mancozeb
Mancozeb is a broad-spectrum fungicide that kills a wide range of diseases. It’s used to control powdery mildew, rust, black spot, and other fungal diseases. You can use it to protect both your trees and their fruit from fungal growths.
Tebuconazole
Tebuconazole is a broad spectrum fungicide that is highly effective against a wide range of fungal diseases. Tebuconazole is used to treat apple scab, powdery mildew and other diseases that affect apples and pears.
Tebuconazole works by interfering with the processes in fungi cells that are required for growth.
Myclobutanil
Myclobutanil is a systemic fungicide used to control powdery mildew and other fungal diseases. Myclobutanil is a broad spectrum fungicide, which means it can be effective against many different types of fungus. It’s not recommended for organic farming because it’s toxic to bees and earthworms, but when used properly it has been shown to greatly reduce the risk of crop loss from fungal diseases.
Myclobutanil may be applied pre-bloom or post-bloom, but should never be applied during fruit development because this could potentially cause harm to your tree’s leaves that could impact growth and fruit production later in its life cycle.
Sulfur Fungicides (Fixed)
Sulfur Fungicides (Fixed)
Sulfur is a naturally occurring element that is commonly used as a broad spectrum fungicide. Sulfur works to combat powdery mildew, scab, anthracnose and more. The sulfur-based products are non-toxic to humans and animals.
Potassium Bicarbonate (M-Pede)
Mix 1/2 to 1 cup (120-240 ml) of potassium bicarbonate with 1 gal. (4 L) of water, and apply at the rate of 1 qt./1,000 sq. ft. (0.1 L/100 sq. m). Apply every 7-10 days during periods of heavy disease development or after rain events if the disease pressure is low.
Potassium bicarbonate can be applied by spraying it on or mixing it into the soil around trees that are not yet bearing fruit. It is harmful to bees and should not be used when fruit trees are flowering or soon after they have been sprayed with oil sprays such as dormant oil or horticultural oils in order to prevent potential phytotoxic effects from occurring due to residues left behind after application..
