The main thing you should know about keeping Birkenstocks from staining is that it’s not an easy task. You have to be vigilant and apply stain repellent regularly, as well as clean them regularly with soap and water.
The first step is to apply a stain repellent spray or cream to your Birkenstocks every few days. This will help protect the upper leather, suede and nubuck from water and dirt. Next you’ll need to brush the uppers with a Nubuck/Suede brush to remove dust and dirt from the nap of the leather. Finally, if your Birkenstocks are made out of Birko-flor or birkibuc, simply wipe them down with a damp cloth once you get home from work or school each day.
If stains persist after regular cleaning, try using soap and water on stubborn spots.
