What do you if your pet suffers fleas? Or, what do you when you discover that there is a carpet infested with fleas? If you’re like me, you are always getting at least a few small bites, which can be aggravating. To combat this situation, I did some research and made a decision about the best way to remove carpet fleas. If you have carpet that has been infested with fleas, then you definitely want to get it cleaned up. If the infestation is bad enough, you may need to replace the carpet entirely. This is the case for both commercial and residential settings. Your carpets are one of your biggest investments, so make sure they stay nice and clean at all times. Shrubs and bushes should be cleaned off if they hang too low over the driveway or sidewalk, or if they are damaged in any way. What do you do when your carpet is being attacked by fleas? If you are suffering from a flea problem, or have noticed one or two of the pesky little blood-sucking parasites jumping around on your bedroom floor at night, it’s time to take action. Carpets were invented over 6,000 years ago in Persia. Since then they have become one of the most popular flooring materials because they’re affordable, easy to install and clean. Carpets give a home a soft comfortable feel while also protecting your floor from dust or soil. It’s no mystery why carpet is used in millions of homes all around the world. It is estimated that three quarters of all US households have carpet in their homes.
Carpet Infested With Fleas
Introduction
If your carpet is infected with fleas, get it clean right away. Fleas are not only annoying but can negatively affect both people and pets in your home. They can cause skin irritations and even more serious issues including blood loss, anemia and tapeworms. The following steps will help you rid your carpet of fleas quickly and safely:
Vacuum the Carpet.
- Vacuum the Carpet. Using a vacuum with a HEPA filter, use the hose attachment to get into the corners and clean under furniture. Vacuum once a week, or as needed to reduce flea infestation. Do not forget to empty your vacuum!
Treat the Furniture.
In addition to the carpet and furniture, you will need to treat your pet’s bedding and toys. This can be done by vacuuming all of these items with a vacuum cleaner, then spraying them down with a flea spray that is safe for pets. If you are worried about harming people or pets in other areas of the home, consider using a flea spray that is safe for children as well as animals. These products contain chemicals that kill fleas on contact while also repelling new ones from coming back!
The last step in treating your home involves making sure there are no eggs left behind; take out the trash if necessary and wash any linens that were used by those suffering from infestations within 24 hours (or sooner!) of diagnosis so they do not become infected themselves by crawling into bed with someone who has been bitten recently.”
Steam Clean the Carpet.
To ensure the fleas are gone for good, you’ll want to steam-clean your carpet before vacuuming. This is because steam cleaners kill fleas and their eggs, larvae, pupae and larva/pupa forms all at once. The steam cleaner will go deep into the carpet fibers and destroy any living things underneath them.
If you don’t have a steam cleaner—or if it’s too much of a hassle to lug one out—you can still vacuum as usual but skip the wet cleaning part of the process (which involves putting soap or detergent in with water). You’ll still get rid of most of your flea problem by using a dry vacuum!
Make a Natural Flea Treatment.
To make a natural flea treatment, mix together 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of olive oil and 10 drops of lavender oil in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on carpets, let sit for 30 minutes and then vacuum.
Clean All Rugs, Sheets and Bedding.
To kill fleas, you’ll need to wash all your rugs, sheets and bedding in hot water. This will kill any eggs that are on the fabric. Make sure you use a hot dryer for rugs, bedding and carpets. You can also use a steam cleaner if you have one available. If there are any upholstered furniture pieces that cannot be washed or steam cleaned (e.g., chairs), then place them into plastic bags with holes punched in them so the heat can still get through but the bugs do not escape. After vacuuming each room thoroughly, take all of your vacuum cleaner bags outside immediately after emptying them so they cannot transfer fleas back into your home via their larvae remaining in those bags! The same goes for any laundry detergent used during this process—it should go right into the trash outside once it has been emptied from its container
Eliminate fleas from your home with a few simple steps
A thorough vacuum and steam cleaning are the first steps to getting rid of fleas from your home. Vacuuming will remove any visible surface fleas, and steam cleaning will kill any eggs that have hatched since the last time you cleaned. After you’ve cleared out your carpets and furniture, treat them for fleas by spraying them with a pesticide designed to kill adult fleas and larvae. Treatments should be reapplied regularly until there are no signs of infestation left in your home, usually about two weeks after starting treatment.
You’ll also need to treat bedding, rugs, towels—basically anything made from fabric or leather—with a pesticide designed specifically for these materials as well as upholstery fabrics like cotton blends or suede that may have become infested while they were hanging in storage during treatment period.
Conclusion
When it comes to ridding your home of fleas, the first step is to treat the carpet. Use a vacuum with a strong suction power and make sure to go over the infested area multiple times. This will help remove any eggs or larvae hiding in that space as well! Afterward, consider treating your furniture with an insecticide spray like Raid or Spectracide. You can also steam clean carpets by using hot water mixed with vinegar which helps kill off adult fleas while disinfecting them at the same time
