A Chimera Ant is an insect with a monster’s power and human intelligence. In the world of Hunter X Hunter, they live in underground hives in the deep wilderness with their Queen Ant. They have a hive mind – multiple Chimera Ants can talk to each other telepathically, so despite there only being one Queen Ant, every single Chimera Ant has consciousness and a personality. They are best known for their ability to take on the powers of other creatures. Chimera Ants appear to be giant human-sized ants with wings and human-level intelligence. They are a species called Chimera Ants, which the Queen controls by playing different noises in her wing flapping – making them dance or attack – with Zushi ordering the rest of the colony to follow. The Queen is able to ride Kite’s Dragon + Emperor, who is one of few Chimera Ants capable of speech, uses him as a mount, and takes over his body when she wants to address her army. Princess Ivanka also serves as an adviser to the queen and can freely converse with her. Gon’s search for his father has led him to a lake with a creature that came out of it. This is because he had been swallowed by the creature. When Gon once again saw his father, Ging had already died and was later revived by the creature in his state after his death.

Introduction

Hunter x Hunter is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 16, 1998, although the manga has frequently gone on extended hiatuses since 2006. As of October 2018, 380 chapters have been collected into 36 volumes by Shueisha. The story focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who discovers that his father who he was told was dead, is actually alive and well. He learns that his father Ging is a legendary “Hunter,” an individual who has proven themselves an elite member of humanity. Despite the fact that Ging left his son with his relatives in order to pursue his own dreams, Gon becomes determined to follow in his father’s footsteps, pass the rigorous “Hunter Examination,” and eventually find his father to become a Hunter in his own right.

Pariston Hill

Pariston Hill is the main antagonist of the Chimera Ant arc and part of the Zodiacs. He’s also an extremely manipulative man who was able to manipulate almost all of his allies into following him blindly. He holds a lot of power within the Hunter Association because he’s chairman, but he isn’t afraid to use it for personal gain no matter how much damage it causes.

Kite

Kite is a Chimera Ant, a clone of their queen’s original bodyguard. He is also an expert at tracking and one of the best fighters in the Chimera Ant King’s army. As such, he is loyal to Meruem and serves as his close friend and advisor. When Gon arrives at the palace—where Kite has been living since he was born—he warns him to be wary of being eaten by Meruem, as has happened with many humans in the past. However, when Gon refuses to leave without saving Neferpitou or Killua (whom he believes are still alive), Kite decides to help him because they are friends from when they were children living together in Whale Island.

Ging Freecss

Ging Freecss is the adoptive son of Isaac Netero, and one of the most skilled Nen users in the world. He is also a Hunter, and his code name is “Ging Freecss”.

As a child, Ging was a Chimera Ant who used to fight for the Chimera Ant King Meruem. When he became a human again thanks to Gon’s help and later killed him by using his own ability against him, he lost all memories about being an ant or even having any abilities at all.

Morel Mackernasey

You might recognize Morel Mackernasey from his previous appearance in Hunter X Hunter, where he was an infamous member of the Zodiacs. In Chimera Ants Hunter X Hunter, Morel has grown into a powerful and skilled hunter on par with some of the best in the series. He’s been tasked with hunting down and killing all 100 million Chimera Ant hybrids. As one of the few people left who remembers what it was like before their arrival, he is instrumental in driving them out of NGL and preventing them from attacking humanity at large.

Morel is known for having poison as one of his main weapons (he uses it to enhance his speed). He also has great strength when he needs it—being able to use his sword twice as fast as Gon can move while still being just as strong as him!

Knov

Knov is a Hunter and a master of Nen (the energy that gives people superhuman powers).

He’s able to use his mastery of Nen powers to disguise himself as anyone he wants, including animals.

Knov also has the ability to escape from any situation, no matter how dire or dangerous it may be. He can even avoid being seen in plain sight if he needs to.

Meleoron

Meleoron is a former human who has been transformed into a chimera ant. His name means “ant” and he works as a scout for the Chimera Ant Colony. He is also friends with Gon Freecss, who helped him return to his original human form when he became trapped in his beastly form forever. Meleoron has been helping Gon find his father, Ging Freecss, since they met during the Hunter Exam Arc. At first glance Meleoron looks like any other human but upon closer inspection you’ll notice that he has ant antennae protruding from his back and is slightly shorter than most humans due to how long it took for him to fully grow into his new body (he was only five years old when he changed).

Welfin

Welfin is a Chimera Ant who has the ability to transform into a human. He was raised by the Chimera Ant Queen and taught how to fight, along with other chimera ants that were born in this nest. Welfin uses his human form as an advantage when fighting against enemies, using his intelligence and stealth in order to trick them into thinking he’s human!

Zazan

Zazan is the Queen of the Chimera Ants and the most powerful of their species. She is also regarded as being the most intelligent and feared one in her colony. She has an ability that allows her to control other Chimera Ants which makes her extremely dangerous.

Bizeff and Ginta (Human Ants)

The two youngest members of the Hunter Association, Bizeff and Ginta, were turned into Chimera Ants by their father who was a member of the Chimera Ants. They escaped from being eaten by Meruem’s Royal Guards and searched for Netero so they could kill him. However, after meeting Gon, Killua and Ikalgo disguised as ants they decided to help them instead because they did not want to lose another friend like they did with Pitou.

• Ging Freecss: A traveling hunter who appears at the start of the story and becomes Gon’s mentor. He is an incredibly talented swordsman and master of Nen, but he is also very kind-hearted and compassionate towards other people. He often has one eye closed when he smiles because he lost his left eye in an accident when he was young.
• Pariston Hill: The Chairman of the Hunters Association who attempts to replace Netero as chairman after he dies (something that never happens). He cares only about his own ambitions and is willing to use any means necessary to achieve them—including killing innocent bystanders if it helps him gain power or get what he wants (like when he poisons all the other candidates). However, despite this lack of emotion towards others’ lives, Pariston does seem somewhat attached to those around him—particularly Ging; perhaps because they share similar personalities? Either way…he’s not someone you want to cross paths with!
