Diy Bed Bug Heat Chamber

I made the diy bed bug heat chamber because I rent my home and can’t purchase a bedbug steamer. only real estate owners or permanent renters have the freedom to purchase these powerful, but pricey machines. there are many diy bed bug heat chambers on instructables but I sought to make one with clear directions (not diagrams) and easy to understand steps for my city, Seattle, Washington residences. The DIY Bed Bug Heat Chamber can be used to kill bed bugs in furniture or other items prior to the use of fumigation. It is a safer and more effective alternative to other methods of killing bed bugs such as spraying with pesticides. Your bed is the most uninviting place for a bedbug, hence you must make it less inviting by heating it up. The process of creating this heat chamber is a little complicated and your creativity is going to be quite tested while you try to meld together different household tools. The temperature probe is placed in the middle of the bed bug heat chamber. The purpose of the plastic step stool is to raise the glass bottom off the floor, and make it a suitable height for hovering over most water beds or other items which can be heated. The two gallon jug is filled with water, and sits in holes at either end of the step stool. A Pyrex baking dish fits on top of the stool (containing more water) which then covers and seals around the probe placed inside the glass beaker. The probe isn’t actually in the liquid but in an open space between the two Pyrex dishes. I have it set up this way so that I can run hot tap water on top of it without stressing about breaking my glass beaker. Since I have quite a few small children running around, I didn’t want to stress out about having them use this heat chamber correctly by placing their hands directly on top of an open flame or anything else they could accidentally break while using it. It’s nice being able to walk away from this project knowing that nothing will come crashing down due to improper use by my children or others who may need to use it in my home.

Diy Bed Bug Heat Chamber

Introduction

Bed bugs are a growing problem in the United States and Canada. Luckily, there is a solution if you have an electric heat gun or propane torch and some time on your hands. Heat is one of the few ways to get rid of bed bugs without using potentially harmful chemicals. The good news is that you can do this yourself at home with very little cost and minimal preparation.

The easy to understand way to kill bed bugs in a pet safe manner with limited preparation and spending.

A bed bug heat chamber is a great way to kill bed bugs in a pet safe manner. It can be done with limited preparation and spending.

When you use a bed bug heat chamber, it is important that you follow the steps properly. That way, you will not have any accidents or harm come to your dog or cat while using this method.

What You Will Need

  • 1 heat chamber.
  • 1 bedbug heat chamber (we recommend the Cole-Parmer Bed Bug Heater).
  • A heat source, such as a hair dryer or space heater.

Light-duty (6 mil) plastic sheeting

Light-duty (6 mil) plastic sheeting is a great material to use for your DIY bed bug heat chamber. It’s lightweight, durable and cheap to buy.

Plastic sheeting is used for a variety of things such as covering furniture, plants and items in the attic or basement to keep them dry. It can be found at most hardware stores everywhere.

Heavy-duty (12 mil) plastic sheeting

When you are shopping for plastic sheeting, it is important to understand the different types of plastics and how they can be used to best protect your home from infestations.

Heavy-duty (12 mil) plastic sheeting is thicker than standard 6 mil plastic and contains a higher percentage of resin than most other types of plastic. This makes it more durable and effective at protecting against bed bugs, but also more difficult to work with as it does not easily fold or bend when moving around furniture or other objects.

Air tight tape or duct tape

  • Tear off a piece of duct tape that is long enough to go around the edge of your cardboard box, leaving about 1 inch extra at each end.
  • Place one end of the duct tape along one side of your cardboard box so that it sticks to itself and not anything else (this will be hard because it’s sticky).
  • Fold over the end of the duct tape toward you to meet up with the other end and stick those two ends together by pressing down on them both firmly with your thumb until they stick well (this part takes patience!). You should now have a long strip running around three sides of your cardboard box, sticking only to its self on two sides and holding them together tightly; these will become our “seams” later on when we glue everything together!

Cardboard boxes or small styrofoam containers for any items you can’t heat treat but want to save.

After you’ve wrapped all of the items that can be heat treated, you’ll need to find a place for items that can’t be heated but need to be stored in an airtight container. This is where cardboard boxes or small styrofoam containers come in handy: they’re easy to find at most stores, are lightweight and compact if you want to store them in another room or closet while they’re waiting their turn at the bed bug heat chamber, and they’re disposable once used!

If your home has been infested with bed bugs for some time, your items may have already been damaged by their presence—but this is a great opportunity for you to make sure those pesky insects don’t get another chance at ruining your belongings. Give yourself peace of mind by giving these things a good cleaning before putting them back into rotation after treatment!

Heat gun(s) or propane torch(es)

It’s up to you whether you want to buy a heat gun or propane torch. Heat guns are more expensive, but they’re much more efficient than propane torches. Propane torches are safer for use around kids (and pets!), since the flame is farther away from your body and there’s no risk of electrocution if the cord breaks. However, if your home has lots of outlets and/or you plan on taking your bed bug heat chamber on trips, then it might be worth investing in a professional-grade heat gun.

Box Cutter/Knife or Scissors

  • You will need to cut the plastic sheeting, cardboard boxes, and styrofoam containers with a box cutter or knife.
  • If you do not have one of these tools you can use scissors instead.

Pot holders or welding gloves for handling heated objects.

  • Pot holders or welding gloves are necessary to handle items that have been heated. If you don’t use these, it’s possible that you’ll burn yourself on the plastic, cardboard or heat gun and damage them permanently.
  • These gloves will also protect your propane torch from getting damaged when you hold it near the cardboard, plastic and bed bug heat chamber.

This blog post is for those who are looking for a method to get rid of bedbugs in an environmentally friendly way on a budget.

Bed bug heat chamber is a safe, environmentally friendly and budget friendly solution for getting rid of bed bugs.

Beds are the most common places where you will find them hiding. They usually hide in the seams or crevices of your mattresses and box springs as well as in your bed frames, head boards and wooden supports under the mattress (that’s why it’s a good idea to inspect all of these areas thoroughly). Bed bug heat chamber helps destroy these pests by raising temperature to 120 degrees Fahrenheit within four hours to kill eggs, larvae and adults.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you want to get rid of bed bugs but not waste extra money, this DIY project is the perfect way. Not only will they be gone in no time, but it will also make you feel good that you did it yourself!
