Yes, it’s going to be all about cockroaches. But before you start jumping up and down with enthusiasm, I’ll tell you that this will be a guide to how not to bring cockroaches home from vacation. In fact, if you follow these rules, you might just be surprised to find out how little cockroaches there are in your house come November/December time. Packing for a vacation sucks! And, the worst part about it is that the stuff you forget ends up costing you big time (or at least big trouble). Don’t worry, I’ve got some hard-learned lessons to share with ya on how to avoid bringing cockroaches home from vacation 🙂

You know how it is, vacation’s over and you’re packing your bags to head home, but you feel a strange burning sensation on your wrist. Despite the fact that it’s the middle of winter and you are wearing gloves, you rub at the spot where the sensation had been. When your glove comes away bloody, only then do you realize you have a cockroach problem. Some of us brought a few home from our vacations. Some of us didn’t get so lucky. Whatever the case, not everyone likes these little critters in their homes. We live in Florida which means there’s an abundance of these nasty little insects, and even if you’re like me and don’t mind them, I am sure you’d prefer to have as few of them roaming around your home as possible.

The last thing you want is to bring a souvenir back from your trip that you didn’t intend to bring – especially a nasty big cockroach. I stayed at a hotel once in Thailand that was infested with cockroaches. I won’t name the hotel, but it’s in Bangkok. It was amazing how they just kept on coming out of the toilet, often scuttling under the door and across the floor to avoid the light. Whenever I showered, it seemed like they’d all be running up the wall. That’s not something I want to happen again…

With the summer travel season in full force, we all want to make sure we’re as prepared as possible for all of our vacation plans. But, unfortunately, there’s one thing that can ruin even the most well-planned trip: cockroaches!

Cockroaches are a common pest problem in hotels and other lodging facilities, and they’re almost impossible to avoid if you’re staying in a place where they’re present. If you’ve ever returned from vacation and found yourself with an unwelcome guest in your home, though, you know just how frustrating it can be!

Luckily there are some easy ways to avoid bringing cockroaches home from your hotel room or rental car. Here are some tips on how to keep them out of your house:

– Inspect Your Room Before You Check In

If the person who checked you into your room wasn’t too careful about cleaning up after themselves before they left or had cooked something that attracted roaches, then chances are good that there will already be some nearby when you arrive. You’ll want to inspect the room thoroughly as soon as possible after checking in—particularly under beds and furniture—to You know the feeling: you’re on vacation in a tropical paradise, surrounded by beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters, when you realize that a cockroach has gotten into your suitcase.

It’s an awful situation to be in—and it doesn’t have to be your fate! Here are some tips for avoiding bringing back cockroaches from your next trip.

1. Clean your luggage before you leave.

2. Use roach repellant sprays on any surfaces that could come into contact with your suitcase—like the handles of elevators and staircases in hotels or airports, as well as any doors or walls to which you might brush up against while walking around town (or climbing over fences).

3. Keep all food sealed up tight in airtight containers—especially if it’s something that can attract insects like fruit or sweets (which is why we recommend carrying granola bars instead of cookies).
