Bull ants are known for their aggression, but you don’t have to give up your home to them. Keep reading for our tips on how to get rid of bull ants before they take over.

1. Identify The Problem

Bull ants belong to the genus Myrmecia and are found throughout Australia. They are named for their large size and ability to inflict pain with their sting, which is why they are sometimes called “bulldog ants” or “bulldozer ants”. They can grow up to 30mm long and have a massive head compared to the rest of their body, which is usually black with a yellowish-brown abdomen. They usually nest under rocks or logs near the ground surface where they build mounds made from soil and debris. You can recognize them by their distinctive smell which smells like honey when crushed between fingers – if you notice this smell inside your home then it is likely that there are bull ants nesting somewhere nearby!

The best way to get rid of bull ants is to find their nest, then kill the queen and destroy the rest of the colony.

First, find where the ants are coming from. Bull ants tend to build their nests in sandy areas, so look for a hole in your yard or garden that is surrounded by sand. If you don’t see any holes but still have a problem with bull ants, check near any trees or shrubs you have growing around your property.

Once you’ve found where they’re coming from, pour boiling water into the hole. This will kill any queens that are inside and make sure it’s not able to be used as a new nest by other ants once they move out of their old home.

Next, mix together equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray down the whole area around where you think they’re coming from (including around any plants). The vinegar smell will keep them away from this area for weeks on end!
