There are many ways that you can keep fleas off your pet and home. There are many flea removal methods available. Fleas can infest your home and yard if left untreated. Here are some steps to help you prevent and treat fleas in your furry friend’s fur. Shortly after the pet has been treated, you may notice the fleas falling off the pet’s fur in clumps called “flea dirt”. The flea dirt consists of digested blood, excrement and cast skin.
I’ve had my share of pets, hauling worms to the vet, and hosing down the yard when I was growing up. Now that I’m a mother, I am a lot more cautious about not putting harmful chemicals on my family’s skin and hair. That is why my last battle against fleas was all-natural, or as natural as you can get when you are battling fleas! You’ve seen them on TV, you’ve seen them in magazines, and they’re spreading like crazy in the internet. WordPress blogs! Alright well maybe not blogs, but infographics. Okay fine, I’m just trying to be funny. But seriously…how can these chart-toppers get you ready to fight fleas this season?
While pet ownership comes with a lot of perks, it also comes with some challenges. One of these challenges is keeping your beloved furry friend flea-free and away from ticks as much as possible. Hey, how are you? I’m fine, thanks for asking. It’s been a while since we spoke last. I know, I promise I’ll stop doing that. However, there’s just a couple of things I really need to tell you; they’re important ― really important.
How To Keep Fleas Off Your Dog
There are few things worse than having fleas in your house. If you have pets, the problem can become even more serious. The good news is that it’s not difficult to keep fleas off your pets and out of your home, but you need to be diligent about it.
The first thing you need to do is vacuum every day. This will help remove any fleas that are on the floor or furniture in your home. You should also vacuum daily in areas where your dog spends a lot of time, such as under their bed or on the couch.
You should also brush your dog with a flea comb every day before you go outside for walks or playtime. The best way to get rid of fleas is by physically removing them from your pet’s fur, which means they won’t be able to lay eggs on his skin or bite him while he sleeps at night (which causes itching).
It’s important that you only use products that are designed specifically for dogs—otherwise he may suffer an allergic reaction from using something made for humans! Use a shampoo with pyrethrin in them instead of just regular shampoo; this will kill off any eggs that may still be stuck inside his fur
The easiest way to control fleas is to start before they get a chance to get a foothold in your home. The first step is to treat your pet with a topical or oral flea treatment, depending on the type of pet you have and its age.
After that, it’s time for some preventative measures.
Keep all animals away from your dog or cat for 24 hours after the treatment so that they don’t lick off any of the medication and make themselves sick. Once that time has passed, you should begin vacuuming regularly to pick up eggs and larvae before they can mature into adult fleas. If possible, move your vacuum outside so that you aren’t bringing any more fleas inside than absolutely necessary.
If you have carpets or rugs, wash them once a week using hot water and an enzyme-based detergent (which breaks down protein stains). This will help keep fleas from laying eggs in your carpet fibers. You should also treat all bedding with an enzyme-based product to kill any remaining eggs or larvae on clothing and blankets before letting them come into contact with your pet again; this will help prevent reinfestation later on down the road!
