I hate ants. They’re sneaky, crawling pests – always looking to invade my home. I recently came up with a new strategy for getting rid of these ne’er-do-wells on the cheap that actually works. Sometime ago, I wrote about an ant problem we had on the property and how I got rid of them using Borax and boric acid. Since we’ve been living in this house, our ant problem has been relatively minor, but every now and then All ants have queen ants and kings. All of them. And all ant colonies live near food. So you need to eliminate the food source, and the nests, and do it all within a tiny window of time, day and night. If you don’t act fast and exactly right, they will return in greater numbers.they would show up.If you have ants in your house, then you likely want to get rid of ants today. Ants are a nuisance because they not only come inside but can bring with them other insects such as spiders and silverfish. Why don’t we start off by telling you what ants are. There are so many ways to kill ants, it makes one’s brain hurt. I thought this was just going to be a short article with just a few methods on how to get rid of ants fast. But then I started doing some research and I found …
How To Kill Ants Outside
Step 1: Identify the ant species.
Step 1: Identify the ant species.
There are many different types of ants, and each species has its own biology and habits. Some ants build colonies in soil or in plants, while others prefer to nest underground. You can get a good idea of which type you’re dealing with by observing the behavior of your intruders and by taking a closer look at them. If they have wings, they’re probably flying ants rather than ground-dwelling ones; if they’re crawling around on walls or windowsills inside your home, they may be attracted to sweets like candy or soda left out overnight; if they live primarily outdoors but occasionally enter homes through cracks or crevices (such as foundation cracks), their colony might be located nearby under rocks or boards placed on top of it; but if there’s no sign that any ants are living near your house then these creatures may simply be passing through from somewhere else nearby (and who knows where!).
Step 2: Eliminate moisture sources.
To dry up the outside of your home, you need to eliminate moisture sources. This can be done by:
- Removing standing water from pipes and puddles that may have built up on the ground. Ants will flock to these sources as they look for food and water.
- Fixing leaks throughout your house. These include drips in the bathroom sink, shower or bathtub; wet spots on roofs or siding; leaking downspouts or gutters; seeping windowsills or foundation cracks; overflowing toilets and faucets that drip when left unattended.
- Cleaning up spills immediately so they don’t attract ants in an area where they might be attracted to other things like sugar cubes or fruit peels too!
Step 3: Clean up food sources outside.
Step 3: Clean up food sources outside.
Once you’ve got your home ant-free, it’s time to get rid of any ants that may be lingering outside. You’ll want to remove all food sources first and foremost, so start by making sure their pantry is empty. Remove pet food bowls, bird feeders and trash cans from the area. Even if they’re not near where the ants are entering your home or yard—or if they were never there in the first place—make sure these things are out of reach until you can do some more thorough cleaning next spring or summer. This includes moldy wood piles as well as dead plants and garden refuse left over from last year’s harvest season; even compost should be removed temporarily during this process so it doesn’t attract any unwanted visitors when it gets put back into use again down the road!
Step 4: Seal up holes and cracks in the house.
- Step 4: Seal up holes and cracks in the house.
If you have ants outside, you’ll want to make sure that they can’t get inside your home. If there are any cracks or openings where they can enter, seal them up with silicone caulk or another type of sealant. Make sure that all windowsills, doorframes, siding and floorboards are completely sealed off from the outside world so that no bugs can get inside your home.
Step 5: Get rid of ants that are in your home.
Once you’ve gotten rid of the ants outside, it’s time to clean up any dead bodies and seal up any entry points to your home. Use a spray bottle filled with vinegar to kill remaining ants that may be inside your home. Make sure you don’t spray anything in the direction of electronics or other sensitive areas. If there are too many ants for one person to handle, bring in some friends or family members to help out!
Use a paper towel or rag soaked in vinegar to wipe up all dead bodies on floors, countertops and anywhere else an ant trail might have passed through. Then use a vacuum cleaner (or broom) for sweeping away any remaining debris left behind by these pests. Finally spray down any areas where an ant infestation has taken place with water from a spray bottle if necessary as well before moving on from this task at hand: killing off those pesky creepy crawlies!
Step 6: Sprinkle powdered boric acid around the outside of your home, along windowsills, under siding, and anywhere ants can enter.
Once you have applied the boric acid, sprinkle some more in areas around your home that ants frequent.
Boric acid is a poison and should not be handled directly. You can use gloves or a plastic bag over your hand to apply it, but try to avoid getting any on yourself. The good news is that this powder is not harmful to humans or pets and won’t hurt plants or other insects either.
Step 7: Make a vinegar-and-water spray to kill ants that are already in your house.
Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and shake well. Spray the ants with enough of the solution to wet them and soak their entryway. Repeat as needed to kill ants that are already in your home or yard. Be sure not to spray directly on plants or pets.
You have to work on the inside and outside of your house to get rid of ants completely
If you want to get rid of ants altogether, you’ll need to work on the inside and outside of your house. Ants live in colonies and each colony has a queen, so killing them outside won’t really do much unless you also kill the queens on the inside.
Ants usually enter your home through small crevices or cracks in your foundation and walls. You should keep these areas clean by removing any debris that may be attracting them or providing shelter for their nests. If there are any cracks or openings near windows or doors, seal those up with caulk or foam insulation (depending on what type of material the opening is made from).
You can also prevent ants from coming into your home by keeping food sealed tightly at all times – especially if there are leftovers lying around!
