Cockroaches are one of the most hated pests in the world (just ask my neighbor) mainly because…well, look at how they look. Kind of like a large beetle with all sorts of legs. The way they waddle as if on steroids is quite off-putting, to say the least. It’s actually really odd that we don’t see more cartoon shows about them. But it doesn’t take much for a cockroach infestation to get out of control. If you have even just one, that means there’s a chance dozens or hundreds of them are hiding somewhere in your house! I’ve been lucky enough to never have been bothered by them. Thanks to my vigilance as well as regular cleaning and maintenance, I’ve never had to call a Pest Control Company. But you may be in the same situation I was years ago, spraying shelves and drawers with Raid or some other kind of spray available at your local grocery store or hardware store only to find baby roaches in your bathroom or kitchen the next morning! Before I tell you about how to get rid of baby cockroaches for good, let me explain first why it’s so difficult to eliminate them. You can only see the baby roaches when they’re in a population called a nymph stage. A nymph is when the baby moves from their egg and begins to become an adult. Baby roaches are called nymphs because they look like tiny little versions of the actual cockroach. The difference is though, baby cockroaches do not have wings, so you won’t see them flying around like you would an adult roach.

Boric acid. This is a relatively safe, non-toxic powder that is usually found in baby cockroach-killing products. It’s effective against most types of roaches, but you’ll want to be careful about how much you use: too much and it will become toxic for humans and pets.
You can also apply boric acid as a home remedy by sprinkling the powder around your home through cracks and crevices where cockroaches live, setting traps with some bait like cat food or dog food, or putting small amounts of boric acid in areas where cockroaches are likely to walk through it.
Vacuum them up. If you see baby cockroaches scurrying around, an easy way to round them up and kill them is to use your vacuum cleaner.
If you see baby cockroaches scurrying around, an easy way to round them up and kill them is to use your vacuum cleaner. The suction power of a vacuum cleaner will suck the roaches onto its bristles, where they’ll be caught and unable to escape.
The same principle applies when using a handheld or upright model—they just have different advantages. Handheld vacuums are great for getting into hard-to-reach places like cracks and crevices, while uprights are better at sucking up large amounts of debris in one go with their larger size. Either way, this is the fastest way we know of killing baby roaches!
Use an insecticide spray. Another simple way to kill baby cockroaches is with insecticide spray. The spray can be purchased in stores or online.
- Apply an insecticide spray.
This is a very simple way to kill baby cockroaches. Insecticides are available at home improvement stores and online, where you can purchase them in large quantities if needed. The insecticide should be applied directly to areas where the roaches are likely to be found, such as behind appliances or under furniture. The insecticide should also be applied to places where they may walk or hide—behind baseboards, along door frames and windowsills, around pipes and drains—as well as breeding grounds like cracks in walls or crevices in floors that are not visible but could still harbor pests (for example: under carpeting).

Chalk powder is another good way to deal with a baby cockroach infestation. This method works by leaving a fine dusting of chalk powder around the areas that the baby roaches are most likely to roam, such as under appliances and behind kitchen cabinets. The chalk will stick to the cockroaches’ legs and bodies, preventing them from climbing up walls or escaping into cracks in your floorboards. As an added bonus, chalk powder is safe for humans (and animals), inexpensive, and can be used in multiple ways:
- In homes – Chalk powder can prevent baby roaches from entering through gaps between door frames and floors
- In offices – Chalk powder can prevent baby roaches from entering through gaps between door frames and floors
- In restaurants – If you own a restaurant, it’s important that you keep your food preparation area clean at all times! By sprinkling some chalk on surfaces where food is prepared or stored (such as tables) you’ll decrease the chances of cockroaches finding their way into these areas where they may contaminate your foodstuffs with bacteria or viruses such as E coli
There are several effective ways to kill small roaches at home.
Boric acid is one of the most effective powders for killing roaches. It works because it is abrasive and irritates a cockroach’s skin, making them want to flee the area. Boric acid can be placed in cardboard tubes or other devices which allow you to spread it around your home easily. If there are small cracks in your walls or floors that would provide an easy passage for roaches, you can use boric acid to seal those openings off (see section below).
Borax powder is an inexpensive option that may work well against some types of roaches (particularly German cockroaches). However, since this powder isn’t particularly toxic, it won’t kill many insects on its own; it needs something else applied with it for maximum effectiveness against certain pests. You can mix borax with water and apply the mixture using a spray bottle onto areas where you’ve seen signs of infestation (like carpets), but don’t expect this method alone to be enough by itself!
