They latch and feed on your pet which can lead to your dog’s skin being irritated and even infected. How To Kill Dog Fleas Naturally

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a natural flea killer and can be used to kill fleas on your dog. It’s most effective when used in combination with other natural remedies, so that’s what we’ll focus on here.

You can apply ACV straight to the skin of your dog, but it will burn the skin if you don’t dilute it first. To dilute ACV for use as a flea treatment for dogs, mix around 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 parts water and apply this mixture using a cotton ball or spray bottle. Use this solution once per day until all signs of fleas are gone from your pet’s fur and body.

This method will take anywhere from one week to two weeks depending on how many fleas were present before you began treatment with ACV (and other natural remedies).

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is a natural substance that kills fleas by absorbing the waxy coating of the flea. The powder works by piercing this protective layer, causing it to dehydrate and die.

DE is made from the fossilized remains of tiny organisms called diatoms, which are abundant in oceans and lakes around the world. It comes in several forms: dust, litter and spray. While there may be some concern about breathing or ingesting DE (it’s not recommended for people with asthma), it’s generally considered safe for animals when used as directed (and even then you should consult your vet).

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a great alternative to harmful chemicals. It can be used to kill fleas on dogs and in the yard, but keep in mind that lemon juice isn’t an instant solution to getting rid of your flea problem. After applying lemon juice, you’ll need time for the acidity of the lemon to have an effect on your dog’s skin and fur. If you’re treating outdoor areas, it will also take time for it to work so that all of the eggs are killed off before they hatch again!

Salt

The first method is using salt to kill fleas. You can use salt in two ways:

• Sprinkle it directly on your dog’s fur
• Add some salt to your dog’s bathwater

Essential Oils

Essential oils are a great way to naturally kill fleas and prevent them from returning. They work by creating an environment that’s unfavorable for the little pests, including their eggs and larvae. If you have pets or children in your home, it’s best to use a carrier oil—such as olive oil or coconut oil—to dilute the essential oils before using them on your pet or yourself. You can also add these oils to a diffuser for maximum effectiveness.*

• The safest way to use essential oils is topically (on the skin), but they can be ingested as well if diluted properly. Just don’t ingest them straight from the bottle!
