- Bait the area where the large cockroach is likely to hide, such as under furniture or in drawers and cabinets, with food that doesn’t smell like food to humans (but still smells tasty to roaches). The bait should be something that’s sticky enough that it won’t fall off easily when touched by your finger (for example, peanut butter) or something small enough not to attract pets or children (for instance, raisins). Once you’ve placed your bait on the ground where they might be hiding, cover it with some plastic so they’ll have trouble getting at it without touching it first; this way you can tell if anything has actually been eaten off since using this method requires frequent checking up on whether any progress has been made toward killing them off completely yet (and also makes sure no one accidentally eats any of these poisons if they happen eat these substances directly instead of through their intended purpose as an insecticide).
