- Plastic bag
- Paper cup or container with holes punched into it.
- Plastic container or jar with holes in it.
DIY wasp trap bottle
Cut the bottle in half using your knife. Flip over the top half, put it back into the bottom half of the bottle, and tape it together with duct tape or any other strong adhesive. Use a sharp knife to cut a hole in your wasp catcher just below where you want your wasp trap to hang. The size of this hole depends on how large you want your wasps to fit through. You can use an X-Acto knife or something similar if you need precision. The goal is for insects that are large enough to sting you—bees, hornets, yellow jackets and other types of stinging insects—to be able to get inside but not so big that they cannot fly out once they’ve been trapped by their own desires for sweetness.
Place some sweet liquid (like soda pop) at the bottom of your DIY wasp catcher so that when it’s time for bed bugs who have come inside with us after biting us earlier during our afternoon snack break from work outside mowing lawns!
