Chimera Ants are one of the strongest known species in the world of Hunter x Hunter. Also known as Gourmet Ants, they feed on many different species and sometimes are also responsible for the extinction of some.

As seen throughout the Chimera Ant arc, they’re all incredibly powerful as even a regular Ant can kill a human if they’re not careful. Upon learning about Nen, they grow much stronger than they already were at birth. So far, we’ve seen quite a bunch of Chimera Ants in the Hunter x Hunter series and here’s a list of the 10 strongest of them all.

10 Meleoron

Meleoron is one of the Squadron Leaders of the Chimera Ant army, however, he isn’t particularly powerful. When compared to the other Squadron Leaders, he’s rather weak, but his Nen ability is still one of the most useful ones in the entire series.

Meleoron can erase every trace of himself by going invisible, and according to him, he can kill anyone using this ability, if used correctly. Furthermore, he can also extend his cover to those in his vicinity, which makes it an even deadlier power. However, the catch is that it only works as long as he can hold his breath.

9 Colt

Colt was one of the most loyal servants of the Chimera Ant Queen in the Hunter x Hunter series and he was quite powerful too. As a Squadron Leader, it is a given that he was impressive in combat and the usage of Nen.

Although the extent of his abilities was never seen, we do know that he was a capable user of Gyo, and also had the skill to use Zetsu. Colt’s Nen was described as powerful and that paints an image of where he stood among other Chimera Ants.

8 Cheetu

Another Squadron Leader, Cheetu was already powerful before he got access to Nen. After awakening this power and being gifted abilities by Shaiapouf, Cheetu got even stronger. In fact, he could even fight against Morel to quite some extent.

Unfortunately, Cheetu had his limits, as explained by Morel. He was not patient when it came to fights and that often led to him losing out. In his clash against Silva Zoldyck, he ended up losing his life.

7 Leol

Known as Hagya prior to his death, Leol was quite a mighty Chimera Ant Squadron Leader whose powers were phenomenal. From his appearance, he resembled an anthropomorphic lion, which also indicates his superiority over other Squadron Leaders.

Apart from being strong physically, Leol could also use Nen and he was known to be a Specialist. His ability, known as Rental Pod, allowed him to use the Nen ability of other people for a short period of time after certain conditions were fulfilled. He managed to steal a bunch of abilities and gained enough power to fight even the most seasoned of Hunters.

6 Zazan

The self-proclaimed Queen of the Chimera Ants, Zazan was a Squadron Leader who had the features of a scorpion. All the members in her squad were powerful enough to clash against the likes of the Phantom Troupe and Zazan herself could fight evenly against Feitan.

When it comes to power, Zazan certainly wasn’t lacking in any sense. She seemed to be proficient in Manipulation and Enhancement skills. Although she was plenty powerful normally, she also had a Monster Queen form which gave her even greater powers. Unfortunately, they weren’t enough for her to defeat Feitan.

5 Shaiapouf

Shaiapouf, commonly known as Pouf, was one of the Royal Guards of the King of Chimera Ants and easily one of the strongest characters in the Hunter x Hunter series. His strength surpassed that of an average Hunter by a mile and even someone of Morel’s caliber couldn’t take him on.

Pouf had strength equal to or comparable to the likes of Netero, the strongest known Hunter to date. Furthermore, his Nen abilities were quite impressive as well and using them, he could bestow Nen abilities to other people. Another ability of his, known as Spiritual Message allowed him to use his En quite remarkably. Pouf also had a genius intellect which is what set him apart from the others.

4 Menthuthuyoupi

Another one of the King’s Royal Guards, Menthuthuyoupi, simply known as Youpi, was just as strong as Pouf, if not stronger. His aura was tremendous and even multiple Hunters struggled to take him down, showcasing his superiority over others. Just like Pouf, his aura output was greater than even Netero.

Youpi, when enraged, was nearly unstoppable. His powers were great enough to take on the strongest of Hunters all by himself and win. He was primarily an Enhancer and his ability, known as Metamorphosis probably made him the physically strongest Chimera Ant in the series.

3 Neferpitou

Neferpitou was also one of Meruem’s Royal Guards and their abilities lead us to believe that they had a slight edge over the other guards. Pitou’s physicality was second to none and their powers were great enough to take down Kite, one of the strongest Hunters in the entire series.

Their En was exceptionally powerful and upon sensing it, even a seasoned Hunter like Knov lost the will to fight. They specialized in Manipulation, Specialization and possibly even Transmutation type of Nen skills.

2 Chimera Ant Queen

The Chimera Ant Queen was the first Chimera Ant to have been introduced to us. She was the mother of Meruem, and although she died halfway through the arc, she was still quite a powerful character.

Although she might not have been stronger than the Royal Guard of Meruem, she did have higher authority than them, which automatically makes her stronger than them in a sense. In terms of physical abilities, she was definitely weaker than the Guards.

1 Meruem

Meruem was the strongest known character to have ever appeared in the Hunter x Hunter series. He was also known as the King of the Chimera Ants and his skills were unmatched. Meruem’s Nen abilities made him unstoppable, and even Netero, the strongest known Hunter in the series, wasn’t able to defeat him.

Meruem only got stronger after returning from a near-death situation but was ultimately killed off with poison. His skills were majestic and we believe he deserves his spot as the strongest Chimera Ant in the series.
