1. Springtails

The sand flea is not actually related to mosquitoes at all; it belongs to an entirely different family of insects called Diptera (meaning “two wings”). Sand flies are about 1/8 inch long with black bodies and red eyes—they can be easily distinguished from mosquitoes because sand flies have only one pair of wings instead of two pairs like mosquitoes do!
