Jack Jumper Ants are a group of ants in the genus Myrmecia. This group contains one of the most venomous species of ants in the world due to a toxin called myrmecine, which is secreted by the ants when they bite or sting. Jack Jumper Ants are often called bulldog ants because they usually have a flattened head and body that can grow up to 5 millimetres long and is around 1 millimetre wide. The worker ants are also quite large, measuring up to 5 millimetres long as well, while their stinger can be as long as 2 millimetres. Apart from causing pain, their venom can cause blisters and swelling that could last for several days or weeks.
Jack Jumpers are a very small species of ants. These ants are named due to their huge vertical bounds, which can be nearly one third of their body length. They jump up to 60 cm and can only be stopped by glass.
