List Of Ants

I moved to Phoenix. I have put together a list of ants. I will explain how I made this list.

Is there actually a list of ants? Well, yes and no. While there’s no official list of ants, I did manage to create my own with the help of a few ants I met at a bar in university.

You probably know by now that ants are pretty important. Why? Well, because they need ants. In an ant colony, there is only one queen ant who gives birth to all the other ants in the colony. Instead of just having a bunch of ants running around doing random tasks and all on their own little schedule—which would cause chaos—the workers ants have very defined jobs.

Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from wasp-like ancestors in the mid-Cretaceous period between 110 and 130 million years ago and diversified after the rise of flowering plants. More than 12,500 out of an estimated total of 22,000 species have been classified. They are easily identified by their elbowed antennae and a distinctive node-like structure that forms a slender waist.

-Ants are small insects that live in colonies and have a complex social structure. Ants range in size from 1mm to 12mm and can be easily identified by their elbowed antennae, one pair of wings, and three body segments.

-Ants are eusocial insects that live in colonies with one or more queens, workers, and drones. Ants are among the most successful groups of animals on Earth; they inhabit every continent except Antarctica and possess a wide diversity of habits, including predation, herbivory, scavenging and active hunting. Some ants have mutualistic relationships with plants (e.g., acacia ants), some are predators of other invertebrates, some scavenge for dead insects or plant material while others are serious agricultural pests. Ants have colonised almost every landmass on the planet; the only places lacking indigenous ants are Antarctica and isolated islands such as New Zealand.
