Minneapolis has some of the most lovely neighborhoods I’ve ever seen, and yet our yards are still infested with these Minnesota ants. They’re everywhere, but where did they come from? Is it possible we could have driven them here? Are they living in our mulch and stealing from us? How do we get rid of them? Here at Ants Minneapolis MN, we aim to answer these questions and more.

BUT it turns out there’s a ‘good’ kind of ant — the Minnesota ant.

There are thousands of species of ants in the entire world, but only around one-quarter are considered as pests, as they damage agriculture, livestock and humans. The other three quarters help us to keep plants, flora and fauna healthy by detering pests and pollinating plants. Ants are a part of our ecosystem which is why in this article we highlight a few specific ant species that can be found in Minnesota. The official state insect of Minnesota is the honey bee; however it was recently discovered that the fire ant was actually first on the list. It’s been mentioned that the state legislature made an error back in 1957 (glad we figured that one out) when they officially signed the bill, but I don’t think any residents of Minnesota are going to lose sleep over it.
