If you have a roach infestation, or suspect you do, take the time to do some research in to this all too common problem. You’ll be surprised to learn that many of the things you have around your home can put an end to your not so welcome houseguests. Cockroaches are a nuisance to both homeowners and restaurants. The insects infest the inside of homes and businesses and spread diseases, including salmonella, gastroenteritis and dysentery. Cockroaches also feed on decaying food, hair, leather and paper. They can flatten razor-thin plastic and rubber in order to gain access via electrical outlets or narrow pipes. Using insecticides to eradicate cockroaches is not always practical or effective because the pests are highly adaptable. They’re sometimes protected from harsh chemicals used for killing them by their hard outer skeletons.

Natural Repellent Cockroaches

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is a natural repellent for cockroaches. It can be used in combination with other oils to make a homemade spray or simply mixed with water and sprayed on surfaces around your home.

The scent of the lavender flower repels cockroaches because they find it unpleasant, so they’ll stay away from the area where you’ve sprayed it. Lavender essential oil has been shown to repel mosquitoes as well, making it an all-around good option for keeping bugs away from your home

Mint Essential Oil

Mint essential oil is a great natural repellent for cockroaches. To make this repellent, you will need:

• A cup of water
• A few drops of mint essential oil (try peppermint or spearmint)

To make your repellent, add the water to a spray bottle and then add in some mint essential oil. You can use any type of spray bottle but if you don’t have one on hand that’s okay! Just mix up your ingredients in a bowl instead. If you’re using a bowl like me, just make sure that it’s not something you plan to eat out of again anytime soon! Then simply apply it directly onto surfaces where roaches may be residing (for example: countertops). This recipe makes enough for one application so keep track if there are multiple people in your household using this product; they will need their own set-up as well!

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary oil is also a natural insecticide. When combined with other essential oils, it can repel cockroaches. To make the repellent, mix together 2 tablespoons of rosemary oil, 1 tablespoon of peppermint oil and ½ cup water in a spray bottle. Spray around doorways and windowsills to keep roaches out of your home. The repellent is safe for use on wood floors and furniture as well as soft fabrics like bedding or clothing because it will not stain them.

It’s important to note that you should only use this homemade repellent sparingly because too much could cause irritation or respiratory issues if inhaled directly from the spray bottle after applying it around your house. Also make sure to store any leftover mixture safely away from children and pets so no one gets sick from coming into contact with it after you’ve used up all the ingredients!

Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, a spicy compound that can irritate the eyes and skin of cockroaches. Additionally, since it is strong-smelling (and thus repulsive), this natural repellant can help keep roaches away from your pantry and other food storage areas. To use cayenne pepper in your home as an effective cockroach deterrent:

• Sprinkle cayenne powder around areas where you have seen roaches in the past to discourage them from coming back. Be sure to put a barrier between the food source and the powder—you don’t want it to come into contact with anything edible! If you are using an open container like a bowl or jar, place a cloth over top so that there is no way for any bugs to crawl inside without having trouble getting out again once they’ve crawled under there by accident.
• You can also add some red pepper flakes (another form of cayenne) into areas where there aren’t any available surfaces nearby like behind furniture or cabinets; just make sure they’re not too close because otherwise they could burn through whatever material covers up those spots first before reaching their actual destination!

Borax

Orange Peels

Orange peels are another good way to repel cockroaches. Orange peels are not only used for repelling harmful insects but also for improving the fragrance of your house. You can use orange peels in the kitchen, under the sink, and near the garbage can.

Orange peel is a natural insect repellent that kills fleas and ticks on dogs naturally. It is made from orange oils extracted from oranges which give off an aroma that is unpleasant to insects such as roaches, ants and flies when they come into contact with it.

With the help of these materials, you can repel cockroaches from your house and keep them away from your house too.
