If you have a bee infestation, you probably have attempted to use commercial chemical sprays to ward off the bees. Although it may have seemed like bees stopped for a short period of time, the bees most likely returned after a few days. Over time, you began to realize that those sprays were actually harmful and toxic to your family (especially when kids are outside), pets and the environment. You noticed that while they worked somewhat, they did not solve the problem 100%. You also discovered that these sprays do not work on carpenter or roofing bees, bumblebees or yellow jackets that sting and can be very aggressive in your yard. These are also ineffective against ground and digger bees (the one with the red abdomens). We all have come across videos of people getting stung by bees. And we have all seen what happens when honey bees are out foraging for nectar and pollen, tearing off nearby vegetation and even your children’s clothing. This can be upsetting to some. But don’t worry. We may not have a way to keep them from stinging, but we have something that works more effectively to help repel the bees at least for a few hours or days depending on the weather condition.
Natural Repellent For Bees
Do you feel afraid of bees or wasps and would like to know how to keep them away from your house or garden?
If you are someone who is afraid of bees or wasps and have a fear of these insects, then this article will help you understand how to keep these insects away from your house or garden.
It is important that we understand what it is about a bee’s stinger that makes them dangerous to humans. The bee has a barb on the end of its stinger which causes an allergic reaction when they sting us. The venom from their sting can cause swelling and pain in our body. This venom can also make us feel nauseous, faint and even faint if we are allergic to their venom.
There are many different types of bees including honeybees (which collect pollen for food), bumblebees (which collect nectar for food), carpenter bees (which eat wood) and wasps (which do not collect pollen). There are over 20,000 species of wasp worldwide but only 1% of this number attack people while they hunt for food such as mice or other small mammals so they can lay eggs inside them before they hatch into larvae inside them so it’s important not only protect yourself but also your pets too because if any animals come into contact with these pests then there’s no telling what could happen!
Did you know that it is possible to make a natural repellent for bees and wasps at home, with ingredients you already have in your kitchen?
Did you know that it is possible to make a natural repellent for bees and wasps at home, with ingredients you already have in your kitchen?
This recipe can be used to repel these pests from your garden and yard. It is easy to make, effective, healthier than chemical sprays, and safe for the environment (because bees are important pollinators).
It’s time to start the natural bee repellent recipe!
You will need:
- 1 cup distilled water
- 2 tablespoons of tomato juice or vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of boric acid powder
- A small spray bottle to store the repellent in (a 4 ounce size works perfectly). You can use any type of spray bottle from a dollar store. Just make sure that you don’t buy one with a nozzle on the end, because we’ll be removing it later.
- An oven safe bowl or glass container large enough to hold all ingredients and still have room for boiling water. I used a baking dish and it worked great!
Directions: 1) In your oven-safe bowl combine all ingredients except for boric acid powder. 2) Heat the mixture in your microwave until it boils for about two minutes and then stir well for an additional 30 seconds to ensure everything is mixed together thoroughly (you may need to do this multiple times depending on how much liquid you start with). The mixture should look like watery brown goop at this point; if not add more tomato juice until desired consistency is reached (it doesn’t take much!). 3) Now add the boric acid powder and stir again until it dissolves completely into your solution (the more you stir now, the less chance there will be for clumps later!). Let sit overnight at room temperature without covering so that any bubbles can escape during cooling down time–this step is important because otherwise those tiny bubbles become big ones when they expand under heat which could cause unwanted reactions with other ingredients later on down line…and nobody wants another explosion like last week’s one!
Place the water in a pan and bring to the boil.
When it comes to creating a homemade repellent for bees, you will need a high-sided pan or pot. The higher the sides of the pan, the better. This will keep any flying insects from being able to get out of the solution once they have fallen in and made contact with it.
A scratched or damaged pan can mean that any bees attracted by the scent of your plant oil will be able to climb out when they fall into your concoction. If you’re using stainless steel pots instead of pots made from other materials such as aluminum or cast iron, make sure that these pans are not too big or too small; this way you can easily manage them without having to worry about spilling anything on yourself during transfer between locations because of their size limitations (or lack thereof).
If possible try using a lightweight material such as wood instead; bees cannot fly upwards so if there aren’t any open spaces then they’ll have no choice but stay where they landed which means fewer chances for escape!
Add the sliced ginger, lemon juice and sugar cane.
Add the sliced ginger, lemon juice and sugar cane.
You can also use honey or apple cider vinegar instead of lemon juice, but I find that these ingredients tend to be more expensive than regular cooking ingredients. The best quality ingredients you can afford to buy are always better than cheap ones! If you cut your ginger into thin slices with a sharp knife before adding it to your mixture, it will dissolve more easily into the water and won’t clog up your strainer when you try filtering the tea later on.
Cook over low heat for 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
Heat the mixture to a low-medium heat on the stove, stirring occasionally. The ginger should be soft and the sugar dissolved. This will take about 10 minutes, so keep an eye on it!
The mixture will begin to thicken as it’s cooked – so, if you feel it’s too thick, add a little more water.
As the mixture begins to cook, it will thicken and become more viscous in the pan. This is normal, so don’t worry! Continue to stir until the mixture has thickened to a consistency that you find appropriate (you can always add more water if needed).
It’s important that you continue stirring throughout this process. If you don’t, your bees will not be able to spread their wings correctly – and flying is hard work for them!
If your mixture gets too thick, add another tablespoon of water. If it gets too thin, just keep cooking until it has reached its desired viscosity again.
Withdraw from heat and allow the liquid to cool.
Once the mixture has cooled down, you can put it into a spray bottle. If you’re worried about how long it’s going to take for this to happen, or if the weather is hot and humid where you live, then feel free to put your pan back on the stovetop and let it simmer for a bit longer. You’ll want to let the mixture cool completely before using—if there’s still steam coming off of it when you spray it into your yard or garden, bees will smell that as an invitation from a flowery source of nectar (which is what they eat).
If your mixture takes too long to thicken up into something that feels like gelatinous jelly (this may take an hour), but not any longer than ten minutes (unless its incredibly hot outside), then just put half of it in a container in the fridge for later use!
Strain the liquid into a container and discard the ginger slices.

Transfer this liquid into a spray bottle, preferably made of glass.
Transfer this liquid into a spray bottle, preferably made of glass. Glass preserves the repellent’s properties and should be preferable to plastic.
Place the bottle in the refrigerator after use; do not keep it longer than one week because bees are sensitive to changes in temperature.
