Snails are a very common nuisance in and around the home. That beautiful garden you spent hours planting and tending is full of snails which leave behind unsightly holes and slime trails. They also like to dine on your prized plants, so it’s important to eliminate them before too much damage is done. Snails cause lots of damage to your prized garden and plants, with their ravenous appetite for your plants. You can lose most of your crops to them, which is why you should take the time to understand what kills snails and how to keep them out of your precious garden.

Natural Snail Repellent

The Problem: Slugs and snails can be a real problem in the garden. If you have just a few, hand picking them off your plants is the best way to handle the problem. However, if you have infestation, there are some other methods to keep these pests away from your veggies.

If you are having a problem with slugs and snails eating your plants, try the following:

• Place beer in shallow dishes around the garden. Snails will crawl into the liquid and drown.
• Put eggshells around your plants to deter slugs and snails from coming near by giving off an unpleasant odor to them.

The Solution: There are many natural ways to deter slugs and snails from eating your plants. Here are a few ideas that we like! Coffee grounds, an Eggshell barrier, copper tape, sandpaper or cedar chips spread around the base of the plant can make it difficult for the pest to climb. Diatomaceous earth is an option for killing slugs and snails by creating small cuts on their bodies that cause them to dry out. Beer traps are another good option for attracting slugs and snails. Simply fill a container with beer, half bury it in the garden and check in it regularly for any pests you may find!

These methods will help you keep your garden pest-free, but it’s also important to identify and remove any plants that have been affected by slugs or snails. The best way to do this is by checking your plants regularly for signs of damage, especially if you’re growing edibles!

They are high in nitrogen and make a great fertilizer for acidic plants such as rhododendrons or tomatoes. You can even use coffee grounds as mulch! When used as mulch they will deter slugs, provide rich nutrients to vegetables and acidify the soil around blueberry bushes.

Many plants love coffee grounds, but unfortunately some don’t. If you aren’t sure if your plant will accept this type of soil amendment then give it a try – but only add small amounts at a time until you see what works best for your plant(s). Coffee grounds should not be used on all types of plants as it could cause them to become dehydrated or sickly due to too much nitrogen being released into the ground over time (if this does happen then switch back over to regular soil for awhile). Only use fresh coffee grounds – not ones that have been sitting out for awhile collecting dust or mold spores! Use fresh ones when watering – just add one tablespoon per gallon of water when watering plants (make sure there is plenty of drainage so that those composted materials don’t sit around too long before breaking down completely). Also make sure that whatever container/potting mix being used has some sort of drainage holes throughout so nothing gets clogged up by excess moisture. Lastly: adding materials like composted material helps keep things like “peat moss”, which holds moisture more easily than do other types like coco fiber.”
