Of Greed And Ants

Introduction

This fable was written by Aesop, a Greek slave who lived from 620–564 BC. It’s about a race between two animals: hare and tortoise. Hare is the greedy one; he wants to win the race at any cost. Tortoise is the simpleton, he’s not bothered with winning or losing the race. Both are in a race of life, both have equal chances of winning the race. Hare knows very well that if he has to win this race, he has to run faster than ever! Tortoise doesn’t know whether or not to listen to hare – should he run faster or not? Hare starts running with a bang – so fast that tortoise can hardly see him moving! He’s sure that very soon, he’ll win this race! But there’s something very important which he forgot – his health! His vision blurred and then finally collapsed on ground! Tortoise looked at him and decided to stop running at all now! Since hare was out of this competition now, there was no point in giving him any competition – let him win but this way only! Thus choosing his own path and didn’t compete anymore….

Of Greed And Ants

A hare and a tortoise were in a race with each other. The hare knew that he had to run faster than the tortoise in order to win, but very well aware of this fact, he also knew that there was no way that he could run faster than the tortoise. He then decided to trick the poor creature into giving him an unfair advantage over him by telling him that they would both be given equal chances at winning if they ran together on land where they were both not comfortable with running fast; whereas the tortoise was much more comfortable with running through water and thus was bound to win easily if Hare agreed upon this condition which Hare readily accepted as he laid his trap for poor little Tortoises everywhere who are still unaware of how cruel human beings can be towards them!

Hare, the greedy one:

Hare was greedy, and he wanted to win at all costs.

He didn’t care about his health. His only goal was to defeat the other ants in the race.

He had worked so hard on his training and preparation for this event, but now that it was time for him to run, he forgot about everything else but winning.

Tortoise, the simpleton:

The tortoise was a simpleton, slow and patient, not greedy and in no hurry. The ant had to be very fast to keep up with the pack. It was important for him not to lose sight of his goal (to get there quickly).

Both in a race of life.

Both were in a race of life. They had equal chances of winning. The hare knew very well that he had to run faster than the tortoise because it was mandatory for him so that he could win the race and beat his opponents. On the other hand, the tortoise didn’t know whether he should listen to hare or not since he didn’t have any idea about what would happen if he did listen.

Both had equal chances of winning.

You have a friend who is an entrepreneur. He’s the kind of person who goes to the gym every morning and runs on a treadmill for 30 minutes at a steady pace, no matter what kind of day he’s having or how tired he is at the end of it. He has built his business on this consistent approach to life, and you’ve seen him take success after success as a result.

The other day, your friend mentioned that there are two types of people in this world: tortoises and hares (a tortoise is someone who is consistent over time; a hare is inconsistent). You asked what each animal represented in his own life—the tortoise being himself, since he was always able to run just as fast as anyone else; the hare being someone else—and whether either had more chances of winning than another.

Your friend said that both had equal chances of winning if they were evenly matched against one another during any race (like an ant versus another ant), but when it comes down to individual races (as opposed to collective ones), then they were not equal because one would always come out ahead by default due simply because they were slower than their opponent!

Hare knew very well that he had to run faster.

Hare knew very well that he had to run faster. He was sure that he would soon win the race. Hare forgot about the most important thing – his health.

Tortoise didn’t know whether he should listen to Hare or not.

Tortoise didn’t know whether he should listen to Hare or not. He was a very simple man and did not know much about the world, so it was difficult for him to decide if Hare’s words were true or not. But after thinking about it for some time he realized that something must be wrong with his ears because of all the noise from the ants in his ear.

Hare started the race with a bang.

Hare started the race with a bang. He was very confident, competitive and determined. He also had an ambitious streak and was enthusiastic about his goals. He was optimistic about life in general and believed that anything was possible if you worked hard enough at it.

He ran so fast that Tortoise could hardly see him moving.

Hare ran so fast that Tortoise could hardly see him moving. Hare was very sure that he would win the race and he placed all his hopes in this race. Hare was focused on winning this race, so focused that he forgot about other things like staying healthy.

He ran for miles without any rest or water, until his vision started blurring and he fainted due to dehydration!

He was sure that he would soon win the race!

After a while, the ant who had been carrying the food was getting tired. He decided to stop and rest but he didn’t know how far he was from the finish line!

The others were still running hard and they passed him by. The other ants started celebrating because they thought that the first ant would be out of this race in no time. They were sure that they would soon win!

But he forgot something very important. He was so focused on winning that he forgot about the most important thing – his health! His vision blurred and he fainted!

He realized that if he went on with such a speed, he would end up losing his health. He knew that it was quite important to take care of himself before anything else.

Choose your own way in life; don’t compete with anyone in the race of life

Choose your own way in life; don’t compete with anyone in the race of life. Don’t focus on winning, because that is just a temporary state. Don’t forget about your health and well-being, because it is one thing that no amount of money or success can buy. And finally, never stop searching for meaning and purpose in life!

Conclusion

There’s one thing I’ve noticed while writing this article – it is easier to write a fable than to explain it with the help of a story. It is not just the ability to write that makes someone good at writing, but also their own interpretation of those stories. Even though everyone might read the same story and understand it in their own way, there still exists some sort of universal understanding which is beyond us all! I hope this article gave you a little insight into what lies behind these fables.
