Pavement Ants Queen

The pavement ant queens are the biggest ants in their colonies and they can be found during the summer months. Because of their size, they are able to lay more eggs than the regular-sized colony members, in addition to what they can scavenge. It is believed that the queen is capable of laying over 50 eggs per day until she dies late in the summer. The queen will consume nearly half its body weight each day from eating aphids, worms and other insects.
