The pavement ant queens are the biggest ants in their colonies and they can be found during the summer months. Because of their size, they are able to lay more eggs than the regular-sized colony members, in addition to what they can scavenge. It is believed that the queen is capable of laying over 50 eggs per day until she dies late in the summer. The queen will consume nearly half its body weight each day from eating aphids, worms and other insects.
Pavement Ants Queen
Pavement ants are an extremely common species of ant that is found all over the world. They are often called pavement ants because they tend to build their colonies in sidewalks, driveways, and other paved surfaces. This species of ant is a great example of how different species can have similar characteristics, even though they come from different continents.
The queen of the Pavement Ants lives underground inside her colony. She lays eggs that hatch into worker ants. The workers each have a specific job in the colony’s daily life — some take care of eggs, others forage for food, and still others clean up after the queen has laid eggs.
The queen can live for up to 20 years, while the workers usually only live for about 6 months or less before dying off after their job is done (depending on how much food is available). The queen spends most of her time laying eggs; she does not eat at all during this stage in her life cycle because she does not need any energy for herself at this point since she will be feeding off of other insects once they hatch into adults later on down the road!

Pavement ants are a common nuisance for homeowners. They nest in cracks and crevices of sidewalks, driveways, patios and other areas where there is little foot traffic. They feed on insects and other small invertebrates and are able to survive in dry environments for extended periods of time.
Pavement ants are easy to identify because they have a distinctive appearance. They are black with red or brown legs and antennae. They also have a very large head that is usually wider than their body. The queen pavement ant can reach up to 1/2 inch in length while other members of the colony are significantly smaller.
If you see a lot of these ants around your home, it is important that you take action right away because they can cause serious damage if left alone for too long. You will need to get rid of them before they start breeding or else they will continue multiplying in numbers until they overrun your property!
