Pennsylvania Ants

Carpenter ants are attracted to wood and can be found under decks, porches and sheds. Fire ants nest in soil and build mounds which may be an inch high or more depending on the number of workers in the colony.

Other common species include pharaoh ants and odorous house ants. Pharaoh ants are small brownish-black insects that are attracted to sweet substances such as sugary liquids or perspiration on clothing or skin. Odorous house ants look like large pale yellowish brown cockroaches with large heads and antennae (which they use for sensing food sources). They usually nest outdoors but sometimes invade homes during warm weather months when outdoor food sources become scarce.

The most effective treatment for controlling ant infestations involves using baits strategically placed around your home’s perimeter where they enter from outside sources like woods or fields near your property line.
